S&W 380 body guard or Sig sauer P238

I have shot and carried both the p238 and kahr p380. I shot just over 500 rounds through both pistols before my girlfriend claimed the sig (be careful, from what I have read this happens a lot lol). BTW both guns had teething issues when first released. Both of our guns are new manufacture this year and have the updated mags, springs etc.

p238: Looks great, pretty good (a bit heavy, 9ish lbs on mine) trigger, very solid and just about the smoothest little pistol I have ever seen. Slide was easy to rack for anyone who used it. Weighs a bit more than an lcr, so pretty light but heavy enough to dampen the recoil- I shot better than 200 rounds through it the day I got it and couldnt complain a bit. Sights are great and are better than many full size pistols. Accuracy is plenty good enough; clays at 20 or 25 yards are quite doable. It is easy to conceal on the belt or in the pocket. **Failure free so far with ball and hornady CD for both of us**

kahr p30: A lot smaller and lighter than the sig p238. Great trigger once you get used the the design. Slide is much more difficult to rack than p238 and the pistol comes much tighter, needing a good bit of shooting to break in. Some smaller framed people were not able to rack it well at all (of course a bit more practice may have helped). Sights are great and on par with the sig. Recoil is negligible (again, have shot many rounds in succession and not felt beat up). The main issue the lady had was "limp wristing" with this pistol. She has been shooting about a year and does well with most handguns. It seems the kahr is much more picky about grip and hands on it. When she really concentrated and was aggressive with her stance and hold, it ran fine (again, practice practice). The sig ran no matter what or how she wristed it lol, so that was the clear winner for her. I have maybe 700 down the kahr and have it in my pocket right now. If I am not solid shooting it, bam then jam. I have gotten used to it enough to where it is not an issue any more.

As to carrying, you will know the sig is in your pocket. That is not necessarily a bad thing though. The kahr weighs about 6 ounces less and has a noticeably smaller profile.
Either one works exceedingly fine for this role. Both pistols have decent aftermarket parts and holster availability.

Shootability fit and finish and function on both these pistols is top notch. I suggest handling them as they both have a very different feel. SAO and manipulating the safety on the sig may be a consideration.Shoot them if you can of course.

This is the review I posted on the SW Bodyguard .380.

The SW Bodyguard .380 is a great gun and I scored it an A. I carry it in a Galco pocket holster.

I have no experience with the Sig, but it looks like a really nice gun too, albeit more expensive. The best thing you can do is shoot both at the range and see what you think.

I've never handled a sig 226, but I own a bodyguard 380 and love it. I have a later model, serial starting EAS. The old models had a few problems, mostly involving the laser and takedown pin. I am happy with both now. As said earlier it ais a fun gun to shoot but not a gun you practice with...
