Found this in a local shop and am thrilled over having it. She looks mint with only a faint turn line - not sure of build date yet but the grips are labeled 'January 1986.'

This one was just south of Memphis. Long story short I had to make 3 trips to the shop from down here - I couldn't believe it sat in the case for a week.

That's lovely

now go wear it out!!!

I've got others to wear out, this one will get a more defined turn line though :)

Hello friends and neighbors //Wish my 1983 looked half that good.

My favorite revolver bar none, especially the six inch.
If that is a 586.

Hope you enjoy shooting it much more than the last owner seems to have, its a beauty.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

It most certainly is - thanks for the kind words! I've yet to own a 6" revolver but am anxious after a lot of time with my K-frame how the L-frame with full lug compares shooting Magnums.

During the 1980s the 586 is one of the nicest revolvers that Smith made and certainly one of the best looking!

Thanks guys! Of course I can't have a naked gun laying around the house, so I whipped this up:

This gun rivals a Python as far as looks go for me! (I still want a Python though....)

That my friend is one fine piece! I have a very special place in my heart for clean looking S&W revolver's, and that one easily qualifies as clean looking.

Thank you for the compliments fellas!

What a great find! The pictures aren't that clear but it sure looks like it never saw the inside of a holster. Or even got shot that much for that matter.

Sorry they aren't very defined, camera had a hard time focusing on it. I don't believe she'd seen leather before today - made a nice lined holster to hopefully keep her looking well. I don't believe the gun was ever shot as when I did a thorough cleaning I got NO powder residue on my pads. Has been dry fired because of the turn line though.

A perfect match of a beautiful revolver with a incredible holster.

are you a holster maker by trade?

No I'm not, actually a full time student. I work leather for pocket money locally for the most part - I picked it up since I couldn't afford to buy 'the good stuff' and found out I'm pretty decent at it.

You certainly are "pretty decent" at it. Pretty decent enough that I wish you lived closer...I have a couple of projects that could generate some pocket money.
