Does anyone have a Ruger SP101 or GP100 that was worked on my Gemini? How do you like the gun and what do you think of their trigger work?

I had one but sold it. The only reason I sold it was because it turned into such a beautiful piece that I was afraid to carry it around!

Marc Morganti's work was absolutely fantastic! Really truly wonderful. That being said, I assume from your forum handle that you are in CT. If that's the case, it might pay to look into JoJo's gunworks in Southington. They do really beautiful work there, and if you avoid the shipping charges it might mean having more money to do more customization.

Thanks. I just got a 1911 back from JoJo's. I agree, they are good. They do seem to focus more on the 1911 platform though and I'm really intrigued by what I see on the Gemini site. I take it you're also from CT?

I've never owned anything from Gemini, but I think Morganti is truely an elite smith, awesome work from what I've seen and read.

I have two truly wonderful SP101 snubbies that were worked-over by Jack Weigand, when he was still doing custom 'smithing. Gemini uses the same "Tame the Beast" terminology as Jack Weigand, and uses the Hybra-porting process patented by Jack Weigand, so my snubbies should be similar to what Gemini is doing. (Mine are not ported.) My perception is that Marc Morganti took up where Jack Weigand left off as the premier gunsmith for the SP101 platform.

As for my little guns' trigger pulls, well, folks try the pull, and tend to be in awe that a Ruger DA revolver can be so smooth.

I carry mine regularly.

Does the porting affect the energy of the bullet as it leaves the barrel?

I've got an SP101 done by Gemini and I'm in CT. Happy to give you a look and let you put a few rounds through it if you're near the Bridgeport range. Mine is not ported.

Sorry it took a bit to reply. Yeah, was in Cheshire. Now moving to the Hartford area.

Once again, Morganti is absolutely the man. I also love that when you call up Gemini Customs, you actually speak with Mark directly. It's not his secretary. And he is truly a gentleman.
My experience with him was A++.

I passed on one of his SP101s at a gun show several years back. I'm still kicking myself:cuss:

Not an SP101 - so sorry. But my wife has a 642, Pocket Protector Pkg just like the one on his site. Very nice, shoots like a dream. I often carry a 639 and thought about having some work done on mine - less the porting due to IDPA BUG rules.

Sorry - I meant to say I have a 638 I was considering having worked over. I was just looking at a 639 and was momentarily confused.
