Masterpiece Arms releasing new .380 & .32 pocket Pistol

It came with the finger extension/floorplate installed so I assume that it's upgraded. I didn't get any trigger slap which was one of the issues. The mag catch spring was strengthened for the mag extension but I didn't find it difficult to operate other than odd placement.

Except for the larger grip it has the same dimensions as the Seecamp and it fits perfectly in my Seecamp pocket holster. If you build a holster it will work equally well for both pistols.

The same week that I posted my review I decided to fluff the feedramp thinking that the matte finish was causing some of the FTF. I saw a copper deposit and was able to get under a corner of it and VERY gently pry it up. It was deposited in a hole all the way though the ramp, I could see the recoil spring. Looked to me like they drilled the housing that the recoil spring sits in too deeply. Too bad I didn't take a pic. I contacted Masterpiece and then mailed it back. They were not good at responding to my polite, weekly email requests for information until they finally responded that it had been at my local UPS branch for a week because they were having trouble finding my address. Gee, thanks. I contacted UPS one day before they were going to send it back. :fire:

It looks like they welded up the feedramp and reprofiled it. They did a decent job but I can see some slight imperfections although it's smooth from the magazine direction.

I took it out this weekend and it functioned better, still not 100% even though I concentrated very hard on locking the wrist and elbow. I didn't keep records this time but it was about 90% with Golden Saber and 80% with Critical Defense. It was 95% with WWB FN FMJ and Gold Dots. Wish I could report better functioning, maybe with some more breaking-in.

I made the 22LR pistol grips Sunday while watching football. Missed a lot of plays. :banghead: They need some more sanding, longer grip screws and some black paint but it already feels very much like the 380 in the hand.

Sorry about the lack of detail in the pics but it's hard to see with the naked eye too. In the first pic I'm trying to show the curve on the bottom of the slide where it contacts the ammo. I'm hoping that the sharp edge was ground down while it was at the factory due to a report of a out-of-battery discharge that I've recently read about.

Thanks for the updates. Not very promising so far. I had an Autauga .32acp and it was 100% reliable with everything. I fired some of the Fiocchi 60gr. through it (they are a bit warm) and the extractor broke. It took about a year to get a replacement extractor from the guy who had the leftover parts from the defunct company, but I did finally get one. Last I heard he sold all the remaining spare parts to CDNN. I wouldn't mind a gun like this in .380, especially since it's metal and so small. But it would need to work better than that.

Btw, mine still functioned 100% with every load I tried, even with the broken extractor.

I thought that looked like an Autauga.

That saw-grip will probably help tame the recoil of the 380 version.
