Im sure alot of the people opening this up are just frothing at the mouth to tell me to give up now and there is no such thing well...

Thanks to Jon at PHLster.com I have the exact holster I wanted and on top of that I got a 100% one off custom holster for under $70

Oh and to the nice gentleman at Raven Concealment that told me you cant do a Taurus 1911 and the lady at BladeTech that quoted me a rediculous $150 + shipping of my firearm both ways + shipping of your product thanks for nothing

I'm glad PHLster was able to make what you wanted, and thank you for sharing with us. The holster looks great, the price looks great, and the service sounds great too. :D Thanks for the heads up on another place to get a great holster too.

I don't know why Raven wouldn't do a Taurus 1911 holster for you.

Glenns I believe that if even ONE customer be turned away thats a loss... that used to be the American way unfortunatly no longer

UGA I have no Idea why they wouldnt they just basicly told me that because I own a Taurus or if I had a Sig 1911 that they do not deal with either model and didnt even offer any form of solution

I added in the fact that a lot of holster companies treat Sig 1911 owners the same way so you cant just simply blow this off as snobbery toward the taurus or "cheap" guns

I actually understand the holster companies not wanting to deal with SIG 1911s because those have a very non standard blocky slide. Taurus has a fairly normal looking rounded slide. Unless the rail just sits way below the spring tunnel on the Taurus I don't really get the incompatibility. Again,

The Taurus frame is just barely different than a standard 1911 frame. Enough that kydex type holsters for standard or railed 1911 frames won't fit their Taurus counterpart.

Looks like a good holster. What was the wait time?

I think what the "brand name" kydex holster makers need to understand is that kydex is easy to work with and smaller shops are starting to figure this out and offer equally high quality product at often times lower cost to the end user.

I'm glad you got a holster for your railed Taurus 1911, and at a pretty darn good price.

In defense of both Raven and Blade-Tech, the railed Taurus 1911 is different from other railed 1911's. If they don't own the "blue gun" or an actual railed Taurus, they can't make you a holster. I don't know what a "blue gun" costs, but if one isn't available you need to decide if you will get your money back in holsters on a $700ish Taurus. No doubt why Blade-Tech asked you to ship it to them.

It's kind of like being mad at Honda because they won't make a turbo diesel Accord for you. VW is selling a bunch of turbo diesels, so there must be a market for them. Seems like Honda is missing out on a bunch of customers. Maybe they are, but no doubt they are busy keeping up with the models they currently offer.

While neither the railed Taurus or the Sig 1911's are particularly rare, they are not really popular. Sig even has come out with a line of "Traditional Models" with a more standard slide profile, no doubt so you can get a holster for your Sig 1911.

Glad you got a good deal on an O.K. looking holster (not into rivets myself) that you like....

Do you really think $150 was too much to ask for a one off custom holster?

Good for you Dimis!!!! I had a kydex mare for mine locally, not as nice as yours

BTW, I love my Tautus 1911 in 9mm.

I dont. For a MAJOR company to not be willing to buy a blue gun (or the model itself if needed) is a poor excuse to not build customers what they want
I know a good portion of you own colts and springfields and dont have to worry about finding compatable accessories but taking care of the little guy is a part of business that shouldnt be overlooked

About 3 hours lol and a drive to Philly... but the backlog right now is about a week or so

EXACTLY!!!!

I understand this but if a guy running a startup business can fund a blue gun or the taurus model itself there is no reason the "Big" companies cant do the same other than they lack the customer service skills the drive to satisfy and the care for their future customers

No its closer to being mad at K&N for not making a filter for said accord because its 1/8 inch bigger in diameter than the one for a VW... its BS excuses and thats all there is to it... its not that they cant its that they dont want to

I find this to be speculation more than fact... yes EVERYONE wants a colt or springfield (or wilson nighthawk etc) but your not going to convince me that EVERYONE has these and not the less expensive taurus or the very well built Sigs.. I find it snobbery not impracticality.. If we were talking about glock holsters not fitting XDs sure they are completely different but we are talking a minor difference here or there and the guns being ignored

For a Kydex Holster yes I do... I dont want to bash anyone who works on Kydex and Jon did a great job but from seed to sew it was a three hour process with us BSing for a good portion of that... I have seen leather crafters work for literal days to mold and sculpt and assemble a holster so for something with that much craftsmanship I would obviously pay more

This is not the first time the Taurus rail gun has come up. In the past there was no "blue gun" for the Taurus rail gun. The guys that were accommodating the Taurus rail gun were using the actual gun. I don't know if a "blue gun" is now available for the Taurus rail gun. Also, the Taurus railed 1911 came out within the past couple of years since the 2008 election and wild run on firearm sales and the natural run on accessories for those firearms. Most of the firearm and accessory makers are running as fast as they can just to keep up with demand.

What you have with the start up guy is a niche maker. He can't compete with the likes of Raven for volume of sales, because everybody knows Raven (and Blade-Tech and Comp-Tac, etc) and their reputation. What he can do is fill a need to get his foot in the door. That's what your guy is doing and good for him and you. Raven has a delivery time measured in months because their demand is so high. They are cranking them out as fast as they can. My guess is the few orders they miss for a railed Taurus 1911, while they'd like to have them, and will get around to accommodating the pistol when they can, right now it is not a big deal to them. When they get the demand under control and can take a breath (or a "blue gun" becomes available), I'm sure they'll get around to offering a holster for the railed Taurus 1911.

The 1911 is a very popular pistol, especially in the year of its' 100th Anniversary. There are probably 20 companies making 1911's. How many of those makers make a 1911 with the slide profile of a Taurus 1911 rail gun. One, Taurus. How many make a slide with a profile like the Sig 1911. One, Sig.

You want a holster for a non-railed Taurus 1911? Call Raven or Blade-Tech or Comp-Tac, they'll make you one, because it is the same slide profile as a Colt, or an S&W, or a RIA, or a Wilson, or a Citadel, or a Remington, or ParaUSA, or even the new "Traditional" series of Sig or any other standard profile 1911 that have been made over the past 100 years. It's not snobbery, it is that the railed Taurus and the Sig 1911 "went off the reservation" and made something different that the holster makers haven't been able to catch up with yet.

I'm just glad it's still a (somewhat) free country and People can run their businesses to make a profit for themselves and not be ordered to run product at a loss to fulfill someone else's sense of entitlement.

Would you feel the same way if it were a glock?

Honestly this is turning into a rant at this point which I never intended but seriously innovation happens all the time in firearms development
I personaly contacted several companies and got the same answer repeatedly which was a resounding no with the exception of Blade-Tech who quoted me an unheard of price for something many of the members of this forum suggested I make myself because its so easy to do (which I did look into untill I found the guy who made mine)
that to me is poor customer service
you know what if Raven is so backlogged hire more people (Americans need more jobs) but dont give me a no thats just crap because they had to start somewhere
thats like me having a sign out front that says I can put exhaust on your car but when you bring in a civic I tell you I cant because the pipes I run would be too long and Im not smart enough to buy a saw

bottom line I got my holster I got it inexpensive and I wanted to pass along the info

Yes.

From Raven's website,
http://www.ravenconcealment.com/hol...modular-holster/phantom-modular-holster-glock
Glock 34, 4th Gen owners, please note: Our Glock 34 holster will not currently fit the Gen 4 varient. As soon as we have these available we will update this message.
From Comp-Tac's website,
http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=66
NOTICE: Generation 4 Glock 34/35 DO NOT fit in our holsters. We are currently working on updating our holsters to accommodate the larger dustcover. We will remove this notice when the Gen 4 Glock 34/35 is available. All other Glock holsters will accommodate the Gen 4 version.
These guys have nothing against Taurus or Glock. The Gen4 Glock 34 is much like the railed Taurus 1911. It is different than other models. They just haven't got around to creating that holster yet.

JTQ you hit the nail on the head...
the difference is those companies WILL be and are working hard NOW to accommodate the glock owner.. no one was trying for the taurus
