I understand this but if a guy running a startup business can fund a blue gun or the taurus model itself there is no reason the "Big" companies cant do the same other than they lack the customer service skills the drive to satisfy and the care for their future customers
This is not the first time the Taurus rail gun has come up. In the past there was no "blue gun" for the Taurus rail gun. The guys that were accommodating the Taurus rail gun were using the actual gun. I don't know if a "blue gun" is now available for the Taurus rail gun. Also, the Taurus railed 1911 came out within the past couple of years since the 2008 election and wild run on firearm sales and the natural run on accessories for those firearms. Most of the firearm and accessory makers are running as fast as they can just to keep up with demand.
What you have with the start up guy is a niche maker. He can't compete with the likes of Raven for volume of sales, because everybody knows Raven (and Blade-Tech and Comp-Tac, etc) and their reputation. What he can do is fill a need to get his foot in the door. That's what your guy is doing and good for him and you. Raven has a delivery time measured in months because their demand is so high. They are cranking them out as fast as they can. My guess is the few orders they miss for a railed Taurus 1911, while they'd like to have them, and will get around to accommodating the pistol when they can, right now it is not a big deal to them. When they get the demand under control and can take a breath (or a "blue gun" becomes available), I'm sure they'll get around to offering a holster for the railed Taurus 1911.
I find this to be speculation more than fact... yes EVERYONE wants a colt or springfield (or wilson nighthawk etc) but your not going to convince me that EVERYONE has these and not the less expensive taurus or the very well built Sigs.. I find it snobbery not impracticality.. If we were talking about glock holsters not fitting XDs sure they are completely different but we are talking a minor difference here or there and the guns being ignored
The 1911 is a very popular pistol, especially in the year of its' 100th Anniversary. There are probably 20 companies making 1911's. How many of those makers make a 1911 with the slide profile of a Taurus 1911 rail gun. One, Taurus. How many make a slide with a profile like the Sig 1911. One, Sig.
You want a holster for a non-railed Taurus 1911? Call Raven or Blade-Tech or Comp-Tac, they'll make you one, because it is the same slide profile as a Colt, or an S&W, or a RIA, or a Wilson, or a Citadel, or a Remington, or ParaUSA, or even the new "Traditional" series of Sig or any other standard profile 1911 that have been made over the past 100 years. It's not snobbery, it is that the railed Taurus and the Sig 1911 "went off the reservation" and made something different that the holster makers haven't been able to catch up with yet.
