A few years ago I was buying M1 Garands from the CMP. One was a Collector grade Harrington & Richardson. It has clearly been fired, but based on the degree of wear on the bolt and receiver, I would be very surprised if it was more than a hundred rounds or so. I admit that I have not been able to take that rifle out to the range. If my memory serves, I think it was made in 1955. Maybe I should celebrate its 60th birthday with a few hundred rounds of 1966 Lake City M2. I suppose it would be different if it was my only M1, but I have other choices when I want to shoot an m1.

A firearm is just a tool and all tools are built to be used. Use them with care and they will definitely last you several lifetimes. Really, who cares if a stinking gun is NIB or looks as good as new and yet has been used as designed.:D

I have one ... that I've had for about 5-6 years. Its a Henry Goldenboy Engraved I had intended to be a family heirloom.

Only problem is everyone wants Grandpa's gun (my Marlin Golden 39A) so I don't know what I'm going to do with or how long I'm going to keep the Henry ... it sure is purty tho :)

I cannot afford to have a collector grade pistol or rifle . I do own one that has never been fired though. It is a .69 cal brown bess flintlock smoothbore. I don't own the components to shoot it.

I fall between "Yes" and "I dont own any guns I dont shoot". I have a 1942 enfield, that is in Excellent condition. Have I shot it? - Yes, but I dont shoot it very often because of it's condition.

My "best gun" happens to also be my EDC... It's nothing really special to most, but I've put too much money into it, and it's had a pricey trigger job that just begs to be shot... so I shoot it regularly and carry it daily and it looks it. It's what it was made for.

Not at all, my guns are well used by Russians and some other person who i bought from in Indiana! :) I will eventually by a few new and used guns. A plus for used guns is you dont need to worry about banging or scratching them up.

It's not mint but it's a Winchester 1894 in like 38-54 that my Grandfather had. Octagon barrel, beat, but a family heirloom. BeAUTIFUL.

Yes, I have guns I purchased specifically as safe queens. They will not be shot by me. The next owner can do anything they want to with them.

I have guns which I don't shoot, which I feel the condition will not be reduced if I do shoot them. I just have other guns to shoot.

I have other guns purchased specifically to shoot and I do.

I have guns I purchased to shoot and have never gotten around to shooting them.

I say, to each his own. Have fun.

I have 5 so far. A buckmark camper 22LR, a beretta M9, a MAK 90 in 5.56, and 2 AK's (one fix stock and the other an underfolder). None of these guns have even had ammo chambered since leaving their factory.

Yes, a gold engraved Sig P210, a gold engraved P7. I have normal ones that I shoot.

I answered Yes, which is sort of accurate. I have a Dan Wesson 15-2 that I recently had refinished in bright nickel, so although it's not "mint", it is pretty much perfect looking. I have shot it, but I shoot it very rarely, since I have others that are functionally identical.

2 of them

My 1984 Colt 1911 Gold Cup my dad got me for my 18th birthday. And my Colt Dragoon .44 cal.

Best Guns

I've got a couple of P08s and P38s that don't get to see the sun very often. .30 Luger is pricy and I'm not set up for handloading that caliber. Nor do I want to.

"I equate keeping a NIB or LNIB classic gun in your safe to having a fully clothed supermodel sitting on your bed. They are pretty to look at and admire BUT the temptation to unwrap and try them out would be too great for me."

LOL!!! Good one!:D

I have two firearms that I have not fired, but that's just because I haven't gotten around to them yet!

Collector pieces(guns) don`t get to that level being beat to death.
A "special" weapon can be used under certain conditions. Only the owner
knows what they are. Guys that own collector grade weapons know what
I`m talking about.

Firearms are like the opposite sex to me... Admiring them is great.... but playing with them is much better.

Most of my guns I shoot.

I did acquire one several years ago that stays under lock and key. Colt Black Powder Arms went out in 2002. The last six months they were in business they put out a limited number of No.5 Patersons. These guns never made it to a catalog. After they closed, the company disposed of the existing stock. I have one of them that is not only rare, but one of a kind. It is a factory miss-stamp (wrong address on the barrel). I also got a letter from Colt Black Powder Arms stating it was an "anomaly" "one of a kind" miss-stamp. I think I will keep it as is.
