Beretta Handguns

When I got to choose my first gun, I chose a Beretta PX4 .40. I had a lingering affection for both Beretta and the .40 round since the handgun that ignited my passion for shooting was my dad's Highway Patrol-issued Beretta 96.

After three and a half years of ownership, and thousands of rounds of tons of brands in varying states of cleanliness and lubrication, in varying weather conditions, shot by at least six or seven different people, with ZERO failures, Beretta has earned my steadfast loyalty. They are a Tier 1 gun at a Tier 2 price.

If I get another 92, I'm going to get a compact model... maybe even a Compact Slimframe? Idk though, I really like the .45 for a carry piece, my 92 stays on guard at home and I take her with me in the truck on long trips, so I can't really justify the outlay.

But, as you can remember, I'd sell a small child for a 93r...

I have two 13 round Type L compacts. The Type Ms are the singlestacks. Hard to find, but finding mags for it is even harder. Good luck!

now if I could get my hands on an all-steel 92, I'd jump all over that like a supermodel on a donut.

I know the SA Bilennium was steel, pretty sure there was another variant.

None cheap, though. I was saving up for a bilennium, then it disappeared from the shelf.

Yes, there was the Steel I as well, that's the picture in the first page of this thread. The Billenium is ugly to me, which I thought was impossible for beretta but nope.

My "Ghost"

My 92FS Beretta, a "Ghost" (all stainless controls, all parts inside I think too, plus Grey Factory Beretta grey wrap-arounds.

What's important though is in 3 months I've had it never had a failure-to-fire of any kind in my first 700 rounds, shoots like there's a computer in there for accuracy, has a slight "bump" for recoil - who could ask more.

I've been CCWing it more and more. With Perry Suspenders (GREAT shooter aid, look them up on Google) and an Alessi OWB holster it's OK for comfort and conceals under an open vest.

(Apologies for the smudges I didn't wipe off. I'm a pig)

I fired two Berettas, the 92 Compact and Px4 Storm. Both were exceptionally beautiful guns. The 92 was dead accurate and a pleasure to shoot. For some reason the Storm was not very accurate, there were three of us (with various levels of experience) shooting it and all got the same results - wide groups and shooting to the left a lot. This particular gun may have been problematic, as they are supposed to be very very good.

Beretta 92 was high on my list for my first handgun, and I still think I would love it if I got it. A great, classic, beautiful gun.

Just got back from firing my 92FS for the first time. It's a dream. I am more accurate with this pistol than any other I own other than my HK45C which is about the same in my hands. I love this Beretta. My son went with me and he now has a new favorite handgun. Folks that have never known shooting a particular gun for the first time haven't really lived, have they?

My first and only gun (for right now :D) is my Beretta m9a1 and I love it! I'm at about 525rds through and no problems. Shoots accurately and I just love it.

I have had a few ppl with Glocks checking my piece out at the range. One guy hated his Glock but the dept. he was in wouldn't allow anything else. He was eyeing mine! :D

Another guy at competition was adamant on me feeling his Glock in hand and how great it was. (For the record I have never liked the look and feel of Glocks). He was surprised to see a made in USA on mine plus was even more astonished at how much I paid for it ($650 brand new with tactical rail. Close to what he paid for his Glock). I was horrible at my shooting at that point but it wasn't due to the gun itself, it was my unfamiliarity with it. From that point on I knew what to practice..

If he paid $650 for his Glock he's overpaid by about $150, unless he had a bunch of aftermarket accessories installed.

A typical going internet price for most Glocks is around $500. If you buy a yearly GSSF membership at $35 you can get one Glock at a discount so the final price (including that membership) comes to $460.

I loved the Beretta that I shot. But I also love my G17. They are different guns with different strong and weak points. Both are at the top of the ladder, IMHO.

I bought the Beretta 96A1 a few months ago and i love it. I also have the Sig 2022 and its nice also. I have a Beretta Sweatshirt that i wear proudly around my college campus but most people dont know what Beretta even is. Only one person asked me if it was a the gun brand.

Berettas are one of those things the Italians can be proud about. I carry a 92FS on duty every day (that I'm on duty) and it's a gun I couldn't be more comfortable with. I also had PX4 F full size. GREAT gun. Absolutely lovely shooter. Recoiled less than other full metal pistols I've shot, like the CZ75B, less than any other polymer pistol out there, and just a little bit more than my 92FS. Bought it because I fell in love with her, had her a few months, but sold her because it was kind of pointless to me to have this pistol. A bit too bulky for CCW, at least for me (I'm average size, 5 ft 10", 180lbs). I could conceal her decently, but never felt totally comfortable carrying this pistol. At the range she did very well (I shoot IPSC), but I never happened to shoot her better than my 92FS, so I decided to get rid of her, in part because I was willing to have a Spanish "classic" (a Star 30M) and I had decided to go smaller for CCW and needed the cash, but the PX4 will always have a place in my heart. Who knows, perhaps one day... :D

He did have a few extra things (this was a shooting competition).. but I couldn't tell you what model it was. IMHO for that $100-150 my Beretta is well worth that and some.. I dislike Glocks.. just my personal preference.

Always swore I would not buy another auto but then I shot a 92 about 2 weeks ago. Yeah, probably going to trade my Glock in. Loved the gun and I shot it so well. I just can't deny, that to me, the 92 is better.

Nice pistols for sure. I really like my M85FS .380. It is one CLASSY pistol, and the safety works the proper way.

TX..... don't do it! The Hi-Power is a gorgeous handgun and nothing points better or feels better in my hand. But I've owned two (post-2000 build) and they were crap. Horrible triggers, stove-pipes, failures to lock open after last shot.... and the gripes go on. These were not user error (in before the flaming starts). I will not own a handgun that hasn't proved to be 100% reliable. Far too much at stake.

So that Cx4 is pretty sweet?

If you don't mind a somewhat obnoxious recoil impulse, and if you don't have facial hair. I sold mine, got tired of having hairs ripped from my face when they got caught in the gap between the cheek pad and stock.

It's a neat gun, but could have been designed better.
