Sig Mosquito....

even with a wolff spring kit...one or two different ammo types...any other ammo type and you are stove-piping.

factory mag fell apart...

but its funny...my Browning Buckmark slab-side and Ruger 22/45 never had those issues...hmm...

Not sure about the other Sig lines...never really cared either...too expensive IMO.

This one time.... at band camp..... I sneezed while squeezing the trigger and I had a flier.

there are bunches of every popular gun for sale used
alot of it is the greener grass hobby thing i imagine
play with the sig a while and try something else out

Biggest fail seems to be the SIG P-250 series, due to being rejected by several Gov/LE agencies for being unreliable during testing/evaluation.

The SIG Mosquito was designed and made by GSG for SIG.

I was at cabelas the other day and saw prob 4 used sig p226 and many other used sigs on the shelf which i thought was surprising. For a gun that is supposed to be that good why are people selling so many of them? Couldn't find one CZ 75B used....interesting

You guys must not get out much. Trade ins from Europe and America are all over GB and internet.

Oh, those kind souls are just taking the $300 depreciation hit so that poor college students like myself can finally afford a great gun. They're just doin it for the greater good, ya know :neener:

Honestly I love my Sig and would look into getting another one if I had the disposable income for it. I carry a Sig 228 every day and don't have a problem with it at all. The only thing I can think of is that people buy them for carry and then realize that a steel gun is a bit heavier for daily CCW than they originally thought. I would just recommend they buy a good belt and holster, but then I couldn't get such good deals on these guns!

Also, I bet all those 226s that you were seeing are the batch of police trade-ins that came through a little while ago.

Is it possible you're thinking of the Sig 1911-22 and not the Mosquito?

I knows Sigs .22LR 1911 is the same as the GSG .22LR 1911. I never could figure out if Sig designed the Mosquito or had someone else do it for them...

The sheer volume of Sig pistols out there dictates that you will see them for sale. Between police trade-ins, Euro surplus, and US commercial guns, there are plenty to choose from.

You also see a lot of Colt, Kimber, Glock, S&W etc. out there for sale used. Does this mean there is something wrong with them...not at all. One other poster hit it on the head I think when he said the greener pastures thing. Us gun people are collectors by nature, and seeing how most of us arent made out of money, we often have to trade something we wouldn't mind keeping in order to upgrade. I find this is the case with myself and my gun buddies. I have a sig 1911 that I love like a child, they have a lifetime customer with me.

There is an influx of agency trade ins on the market right now, so there are some good deals out there.

Regarding personal sales, I think most come from consumers that buy them and figure out it isn't the right pistol for them or you get people that have had them awhile and want to consolidate their pistols to something different.

For instance I shoot 1911s better than any other pistol and Glock is a very close second. After that it goes down in various degrees, but Sig is a couple of pistols down. I have a German P226 sitting in my safe doing basically nothing because, while it's an excellent pistol, it just doesn't work as well for me. A friend of mine, who also happens to have once been an excellent competition pistol shooter, once told me to find what I shoot best and master that pistol and I have more or less decided to take his advice; and since the Sig isn't a pistol I shoot as well as the others, it's time for it to go to someone that will make more use of it. Nothing wrong with it, just not right for me.

I've got a P220, P229 and a P250, the P220 & P229 are great pistols, the 250 does for a truck gun, but I love the 220 and 229 and the 220 is my daily carry. Keep in mind, all of this is coming from a 1911 guy. IMHO Sig makes a good product, but I may get flamed for that comment.

LE trade ins are responsible for a lot of the used Sigs around here. They're a great deal if you don't mind a little holster wear. I've got two P220's that looked new when I popped the slide off. Many of the LE trade ins don't really see much use other than being carried (i.e. not any rounds thru them). Some do. That's why you gotta look.

SIG wanted a .22LR pistol and turned to GSG.
GSG designed and made the Mosquito for SIG.
Few years later SIG took over making the Mosquito, which improved quality control/reliability a bit.
GSG later designed and made the GSG 1911-22. Which SIG liked and wanted their own version. So, the SIG 1911-22 is just a re-branded GSG 1911-22.

I have 3 for sale here and no horror stories. I have simply found some new toys I want more and am selling these. I love my SIG's but sometimes we just need top rotate the toys.

It was love at first shot from a Sig P220 (45 ACP) and then a Sig P226 (9 mm). I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of those models. I've shot and owned other pistols but these two models feel the best in my hand.

At the gun store I frequent, they had a P245 that had surface rust on the slide... That's about the only negative I can recall.

Also at the gun store I frequent, I have seen broken Colts, Kimbers, Glocks, etc... But I've never seen a broken SIG. I saw a P220 that reminded me of their slogan, "to hell and back reliability," because it really looked like it had been to hell and back. Good shooting pistol too.

They may be...

Sigs are like 1911s and AR15s. For every person you know with one, you know more people with several.

Some of the folks in the "several crowd" may be selling them to fund Christmas. To be honest, I considered doing that with one of my Kimbers.

SigPro, P250, and Mosquitoes are built to be affordable. The quality is not up to their standard lines. Not bad quality, but more M&P, XD comparable. Whereas the P220 would compete with the better HK lines.

SIGs are hugely popular worldwide so it is not suprising to see a lot on the used market and there are many outstanding buys to be had from such.

The Secret Service and the Navy SEAL are two elite organizations that use SIG pistols as their standard issue (p229 and P226). If it is good enough for them it is good enough for me.

If I go to Carmax and see a lot of used Hondas, Toyoytas, and BMWs for sale but no Yugos that does not make me think that a Yugo must be a better car.
