That's an old Taylor Cutlery Japanese made butterfly knife. The blade should be 440C. The handles may be solid brass. It should date from the 80's.

The old Pacific Cutlery butterfly knives were marked Balisong. I have one around here somewhere that I bought around 1985. Pacific Cutlery is now Benchmade.

Isn't calling a butterfly knife a BaliSong (that isn't a Benchmade or a Pacific Cuttlery) like calling a Pepsi a Coke or vice versa? Oh, and nice knife BTW! And as said, your Grandmother was COOL!

Thanks HSO, that is what I was asking in the first place when I asked if Bali Song was a Benchmade trademark.
Yeah, just that "Bali-Song" as opposed to balisong. I like that they're also called "clackers".

that's from Taylor Cutlery, obviously, and was most likely made in Japan. it's not an antique, by any means, as most of them were made in the 1980's the brass handled ones are pretty rare, though, and Taylor made nice quality balisongs. you don't see them often anymore because of the ban on importing them into the US, but they're still pretty common in Asia, along with other lower quality balisongs.
i have a few Taylors in my collection, and i like them. they're not going to fetch the same price as older Pacific Cutlery/Benchmade balisongs, but i'd value that one anywhere between $40-$70, especially if it's a channel handled one as opposed to a sandwich handled one. hell, if i could afford it right now, i'd make an offer.
