I second act of valor, apparently the production team had the full backing of the Dept of Defense, so that means some awesome action scenes.

An American Story: It is a film based on the 1946 Battle of Athens, where a bunch of WWII combat vets armed themselves to combat the corrupt local government/ dirty sheriff that was committing election fraud and voter intimidation

Band of Brothers has been mentioned, but if you get a chance watch "the Pacific" (another HBO miniseries) as well. Not as good as BOB in my opinion but well worth watching.

I agree with most of these, esp. Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Full Metal Jacket. I liked Quigley Down Under. Add They call me Trinity, They still call me Trinity, My name is Nobody, First blood , Support your local gunfighter, The Deerhunter.

Go to the theatres and watch Act of Valor. Live fire minigun scene.

The movie is acted by real US Navy SEALs.

Hello friends and neighbors// The Wind and the Lion , post #75 Plus 1

Guns from many continents, and eras.
Candice Bergman as a tough as nails beauty.
Teddy shooting rifles on the White House Lawn with his children--priceless.

I still have this on vhs too, guess I'll be watchibg this tonight, thanks.

"The Good, The Bad, And The Weird"...a Korean remake of the Eastwood movie. Yes, I know, but it's fun. And lots of guns.

"Firefly", the series on DVD. A sci-fi western. Again, yes, I know, but fun. And fun guns. You will love "Vera".

Four pages! FOUR!!! And other than saying "every Clint Eastwood movie" (really? Bridges of Madison County? :what: ) Not one mention of The Outlaw Josey Wales.

Don't know how may of these are already mentioned:

A Few Good Men
Blood Diamond
Blue Thunder
Bonnie and Clyde
Cross of Iron
Crossfire Trail
Enemy at the Gates
Goodfellas
La Femme Nikita
Once Upon a Time in America
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Road to Perdition
Son of the Morning Star
Terminator
Terminator 2
The Godfather (all of them)
The Longest Day
The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
The Sands of Iwo Jima
True Lies

Taken had some good gunplay in it, although the sound of the gunshots was curiously muted.

The second shootout (in what they called the "Annex Skywalk") in Die Hard 2, where you see Bruce Willis actually doing a realistic reload, is good, but this film is also infamous for its fictional "Glock 7."

No mention of The Wild Bunch yet. I don't know if it was the first western to break the "hero cowboy" stereotype and instead cast a bunch of ruthless outlaws as anti-heroes, but it's iconic for that. The ending shootout has been copied, but rarely equaled; I think the 1980's Nick Nolte flick Extreme Prejudice came close.

Someone mentioned upthread the 12 round gun used by Costner in Open Range. If you watch the "making of" extra on certain DVDs, you'll find that that was an editing error, and that Costner actually switched guns during that scene, but the holster-the-empty-draw-the-fresh-gun sequence hit the cutting room floor.

Many of these movies are fiction and have nothing to do with real life. Oh wait a minute, that's the Dragnet thread.

How 'bout The Wild Bunch and it's remake called Extreme Prejudice. The Replacement Killers is good, too. Another classic is The Siege Of Firebase Gloria, R. Lee Ermy at his best. Then, the first couple of Death Wish movies were tolerable.

No ones mentioned Predator? Billy was the first person to have a master key. Plus everyone had a cool weapon unique to themselves.

And a lot of the movies mentioned so far are great. Especially heat and josey wales

Sniper
The Getaway (I like the '94 version with Kim Basinger in it better)

Some of my oddball favorites are:
'Maltese Falcon' (I just love Joel Cairo's little Colt)
'Foxy Brown' (I just love Foxy's little Bauer)
'Dogs Of War' (25mm Manville)
'Wild Geese'
'Devil's Brigade'
'Kelly's Heroes'
'Act Of Valor'
'Centennial' (the first 3 episodes)
'Mountain Men'

'The Tin Star':Henry Fonda teaching Anthony Perkins how to be a sheriff.Rod Redwing was the "gun coach" & does some shooting.
Quote:"Sheriff Parker wore his guns this way!" "Parker's dead."

I was reading thinking to myself, wow no one voted for Zombieland... Then I realized this thread started well before that movie came out. lol

Surprised no one mentioned "Mr. & Mrs. Smith".

If you want to see A LOT of guns and gun fights, watch it.

I particularly like the shootout scene at the house. :D

If you can find it; "Rolling Thunder" 1976, William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones. They clear a Tex-Mex border whorehouse in the last twenty minutes of the film. Definitely a good gun scene!
