What are some good gun related DVDs to rent from Netflix?

Of course there's the favorites; Blackhawk Down, We Were Soldiers, etc, but I've been getting into renting series disks from them instead of movies lately.

I just rented "Over There" an FX TV series about a fictional squad over in Iraq. I only watched the first two episodes, but it seems very good and jives with some of the soldier blogs I've read. Very realistic use of weapons too.

A while back I rented Tour of Duty. It was apparently a TV series in the mid 80's about a platoon in Vietnam. It has a little more of a "Blacksheep Squadron" feel to it, although certainly much better than A-Team. I suppose it's the time period it was made. I've only watched a couple episodes, but I like it. The weapons usage seemed pretty accurate in it too, which surprised me for the period.

There's The Shield. Sometimes it's a little hard to watch, but it has it's interesting times too.

They have Combat! too. A real oldie.

Anybody else have some ideas for good DVDs?

I like Highlander the Series and SG1. Just rewatched Underworld again this past weekend because I am a Walther P99 fanatic. :what:

There was a show called Keen Eddie that was on Fox about 3 years ago or so. American detective in England. Its very funny. I have the boxed set. They ran it in the summer time and never gave it a chance. But, its out on DVD. Great series. The main actor is 1 of the lawyers on Boston Legal now.

Just thinking while I'm typing here.... Some of those old ones..... The "7-Ups", is good, "Bullitt", "French Connection", "China Beach" (t.v. series).

What about... Heat, The Last Boyscout, Sniper, 24 (The series), Any spaghetti western with Clint Eastwood, Unforgiven (great movie) and from what i've heard (haven't seen it yet) lord of war has a bunch of guns in it to. Also don't forget band of brothers, if you can get it:)

I will ditto the suggestion for "24." I never watched this in original runs, and started renting the season dvd's at a local video store. About the time I got to disc 5 of Season 2, I found out that my local video store didn't have that one. What good is a 6 cd season set with a dvd missing? I told them how ticked off I was, and joined netflix. Now I'm watching season 3.

HBO series are available. They are better than "normal tv" with bigger budgets and better writers.

Deadwood.
The Wire.
Rome ( season 1 only )

Also highly reccomend Firefly/Serenity.

Deadwood look pretty cool. Being a western, there should be some interesting guns in it. :)

I forgot all about 24. I saw the first season way back. Were the subsequent seasons as good?

If you like The Shield then I have to suggest The Wire. It's a cop series from HBO.

You can also get a lot of History Channel stuff from Netflix if you haven't seen it yet. Or just go to the documentary section under "Browse" and select "Military Documentaries".
