1 hacked up reproduction bayonet + a bit of aluminum rail stock = easy mounting of a light without interfering with the sights or requiring modification of the rifle.

Eventually I may put some effort into making one that doesn't require a donor bayonet.

Yes, a very good idea! How about some more photos and details? I have this Plainfield carbine with an Ultimak rail and red dot sight under my bed for h/d, but there's no room for anything else unless I hung it off the side somehow. Your idea would be great for a flashlight mount, or light/laser combo. I'd love to see some more views of it and more construction details!

I'd have to put on a type 3 barrel band, but oh well.....

There wasn't much to the construction. I just cut the blade off a repro M4 baoyonet, removed the grips, and milled out a groove in a section of aluminum picatinny extrusion to fit the tang, milled the slots, JB welded it together, and finished it off with Moly-Resin.

I'll have some more pics when it gets to the friend for whom I made it.
