I just got home with this used GP100.

I've been without a revolver since I traded my Taurus tracker in on 357 for my AR15. I don't miss the Taurus but I have felt a need for a wheel gun again.

I bought the gun for $475 + tax for $506. I also bought a box of .357 and 9mm which he gave me $8 off. Oh and they threw in a $8 bag to take it home in.

The finish seems to be in good shape with a few minor scuffs here and there.

According to Ruger's website, it's a 1996 model.
Considering what they go for brand new, I don't think you got hurt.
I forget what I paid for mine. I bought mine used, a few years ago.

GP100's are just one of the toughest and most durable .357's out there.

Get yourself a tube of Flitz and you can have it looking like a piece chrome in an hour by hand.

And believe it or not those grips are amazing at soaking up the full capability of that revolver.

In the end a few bucks more or less does not affect the satisfaction you will get from anything.

I think the GP100's are a major sleeper and are easily comparable to any S&W .357.

I think I paid $375 for mine. It's newer than yours, but that means nothing. They are built to last. I got lucky on the price. They've gone up a LOT since I got mine.
New ones go for well over 500 bucks around here.

In these parts that's a fair Retail Price for a Used Gun in that condition, you didn't steal it but you didn't get ripped off either.
If you are going to shoot a lot just clean it up and keep it lightly oiled.
Polishing it up and restoring it will not hurt it either. That is a fielders choice.
Shoot it and give us a range report.

Love my GP100 - 6" paid around 570 new which included shipping, transfer, etc.
Personally, if the price between new and used is that close i just buy new.
But had to add the wood grips so + another 40.

I think they look better than the Smith 686s and i like the DA trigger better on the GP100. Single action is a little bit better on the Smith because there is no take up.
Great shooter

I shot it some this afternoon. It's a keeper, that's for sure.
I was only shooting single action as I was trying to adjust the sights. I don't know how anyone hit anything with this thing, the sights were way off. After I got it on I was able to hit a pop can at 15 yards off hand with no problem. I'm looking forward to see what I can do with this. Bowling pin at 100 yards?

I'm used to shooting my Glocks so the trigger is a little different. Double action feels nice and smooth with no catches and single action is nice and light @ 2-3 lbs?

I like shooting this much better than the Taurus Tracker that I had before. Even with the porting that was a bear to shoot. The houge grip was nice but not as nice as these grips. Plus this thing isn't anywhere near as loud as the Tracker.
The lock up and timing are great. Much, much better design and workmanship than the Taurus. No comparison!! Timing was a huge issue with the Tracker for me. I sent it back 3 times and they never could get it to work right. It shaved lead all the time.

I'm looking to shoot this in a revolver only steel match on Thursday. I would like to get some speed loaders by then. Anyone have any suggestions? Will speed loaders work with the grips on this gun?

Congratulations!

There's a lot of truth in them there words.

Nothing wrong with the deal you made.
You seem to be pleased with it and our opinion doesn't
count. ;);)

I have two of them, but don't recall how much I paid
for either one. Like you though, I think I did fine on both.

Sounds like you got a good deal. I walked out with a used blued 2009 GP today for $400 OTD. I can't wait to get it out and shoot it. Mine has the straight Hogue grips, but I like the way the wood sets off your stainless. Enjoy!

They are great guns. Mine has the 6 in Bbl. and it shoots well and is mechanically so solid I can't believe it.
Of the 4 revolvers I own the only other that I like to shoot as much is my Model 10.
You will be happier the more you shoot it I know I am that way with mine. Every time I shoot it I like it more.

I use Safariland speedloaders with mine. Just push down to release the cartridges. Only gripe with 'em is that they're completely plastic. On the other claw I think I paid about $12 each for them, so they're not exactly spendy items.

I Have a GP100 in 6inch full-lug in SS. I bought the Wulff spring kit for mine. What a difference!! Trigger is very smooth and hammer is also very nice. Swallows the hottest loads with ease and is very rugged. Congrats and enjoy.
