Wal-Mart ARs

Never heard of that too!!

A number of years ago, before they started taking the guns out of the stores, Wal-Mart was the largest seller of retail long guns in the United States. Even if you put the major big box sporting goods stores together, Wal-Mart out sold all of them put together on long guns. If they didn't have it on the shelf, their catalog was over 4 inches thick, and you would have your purchase in the store within 7 days. (that's how large their warehouse inventory was.)

I bought 3 rifles from them that way and 2 right off the shelf.

I only bought one rifle from Wal-Mart when they were stocking them here -- the special-to-Wallyworld stainless steel 10/22 with the green laminated stock. I only bought one rifle because it felt like "they'll always have them at Wal-Mart"...Live and learn...

Turns out that WalMart took the guns out of stores that didn't sell many guns. The ARs in WalMart took me by surprise, though. I bought my 581-series Mini-14 for Christmas a few years back for $607.99. The Mini-14s are now running $629.99.

If you don't see what you might like in the display case at Wally ask to see their gun catalog. Pot load of gun they can order are listed. Only takes a few days for your order to come in. Wally gets their guns from the same distributors as the high end gun shops do so you won't be getting something inferior.

We do not sell handguns at any Walmart. Only Rifles, Combos, and Shotguns, and then only at "Select" stores. If you are unfortunate enough to live in a community with bad demographics, you will not see any "Real" guns at your local Walmart.

It's real easy to get a credit card at Walmart. All you need is a checking account in good order. Walmart used to offer 10% off electronics if you applied for a credit card at the time of purchase. I have no idea about the details but if my niece got a credit card at Walmart anyone can get one. The girl has never had a job in her life. She just turned 18...

Jorg, I can walk into my local Walmart and buy a handgun here in Alaska. They only have 5-10 in stock at any one time, usually a glock of some sort, a 1911 of some variety, a couple revolvers (usually tarus, though I've seen ruger super redhawks), and a couple of small caliber autos like a buckmark or P22 and some brand of .380 or other.

Went in Walmart last week to pick up some dog food and decided to check out the sporting goods section. I found 5 boxes of Federal .45 ACP, 230 grain ammo for $29.97 per box of 100 which I thought was a good deal. I quickly looked in the gun case and saw several AR's and what looked like a Judge rifle. The clerk said that they were told the closer to the presidential election the cheaper the gun and ammo prices were going to get. I'm am going to start checking out Walmart
on a weekly basis.

I've seen ammo at decent prices lately. Of course I don't have the money to buy it. I saw .22lr for $16.97 for the Federal bulk pack the other day. The store had a whole shelf of it. I decided to go back a few days later to get a box because I wanted to go shoot today and they were all gone but two. I bought them both. It rained like crazy all night and morning, so I am sitting home. :(

Here's a couple of pics of a Walmart gun counter in Sheridan, Montana. Sorry for the poor quality pics. My wife and I happened to be traveling through and were pleasantly impressed with their guns. I have yet to see ARs in a Walmart in my local Texas Walmarts. But, then again, I have not looked extensively. Anymore, I'm just glad to see that they have guns at all. Far too many of them have removed their gun sales displays.

I hate when they lock the ammo in the case under the guns. The one by my work just has them in the shooting aisle with everything else. You can pick up what you need and head to the check out counter. I hate having to lean over the counter to see what they have and what the prices are at the one by my house.

Where are the guns? I see dogs.

I hope you didn't make a special trip just for this thread.

Like I said, they were put away because nobody was working the gun counter, but they leave the tags out so you know what they have. Prices aren't the greatest out there, but they're a couple bucks cheaper than a box store like Sportsman's Warehouse.

No outright special trip to take the picture, that Walmart was next to a store I was going to anyway.

May be but what I was told by a WalMart employee was they don't sell them in some stores because (he claims) some areas pressure WalMart not to sell guns so they don't. He even claimed one local large city basically told them they would never get their building permit if they sold guns.
Can't verify any of it but that is what he said.

I've seen AR type rifles in local WalMarts for well over a year. I am more surprised to see them start carrying all sorts of AR accessories, pistol grips, pic rails, weapon lights, bipods etc. At the same time some of the local WalMarts quit carrying scope rings but they still sell scopes, go figure.

Same here. No red dots, but by golly do they carry rails, vertical grips, and single point slings.

The Walmart in Boise, ID and I think the one in Meridian (a little but farther out) have been carrying AR's for awhile. I was pretty excited to see Colt and Sig in there.

I just wish they would still stock Stevens 200's, since I want to start on a project gun :(

I remember growing up in CA the Walmart used to sell guns, that's where my dad bought me my first 10/22. Then they only sold ammo and no firearms, so moving up here where they sell rifles is nice. I haven't bought any from Walmart, yet...

Ours has had a LE6920, a SIG M400, and a Bushmaster Patrol Rifle for quite a few months. I asked if they ever sell and the clerk said yeah, quite often, and that they usually have others in the safe in the back and just leave the display models in the rack.

$1097 on the Colt.
$987 on the SIG w/free case.
They did have another SIG with free scope but it's gone.
I don't know Bushmaster price.

Though I'm not proud if it. it was the only thing I could find job wise short notice. But I work the gun counter at my local walmart. We carry the colt 6920, the sig m400, bushmaster patrol mans rifle, windham weaponry s carbine model, dpms sportical, and smith and wessons m and p 15.22

There are lots of guns for sale in the Fairbanks Walmart.
They include AR types from Bushmaster, Colt, Sig and Ruger.
Over twenty handguns, including S&W, Glock, Ruger
and Taurus.

So, the statement that no Walmart sells handguns is false.
