Obviously, being a member of this community smacks of being a gun enthusiast, and, admittedly I have a soft spot for the C&R firearms. After a good deal of research, I found a store in Texas selling PA 63s for $189.99. I did my due dilligence- seems to be a well made pistols at a low price; I bought them as gifts to my sons and got one for myself. Wolff springs are inbound and I am thinking about getting wood slabs for all of them. Picked them up today; DA trigger is shiz and they seem to be pretty peppy. Anyhoot, if you are looking for a near NIB PA 63 private message me and I will tell you the dealer.

You can get lighter hammer springs from Wolff. I swapped out the stock 16# spring in my R61 for an 11# and it did wonders for the DA pull with no failures to fire any ammo tried to date.

Good little guns.
I had mine for years and it digested anything you could stuff down the pipe.

Accurate, handy, and with a bit of punch on both ends.

Makes me think that I should have the one I had stolen replaced sometime soon.

Grips arrived today from Thailand; overall, I am happy. Half the cost of Marschall Grips and no wait time. They did take a little dremmeling to get the fit ok and the screw was too long and needed cut down. But now I don't have a thumb rest digging into my left palm while shooting!

I have an AP7, which is the same gun made by the same company but targeting civilians as their market. The AP7 is extremely comfortable to hold and fire, single action trigger is one of the best I've ever felt.

The PA63 is a little less comfortable to shoot but otherwise they are basically the same guns. One piece of advice I can give is that if you take off the grips make sure that the free floating pins on either side of the gun don't fall out and render the gun inoperable.

Here's my AP7:

Since when are PA-63 C&R?

Didn't production start in like the late 50s or early 60s? That would make at least the early ones C&R. I didn't see them listed specifically on the list, but I have seen them listed as C&R by sellers, although I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

They are decent guns. My dad has one, but I find it uncomfortable to shoot because it sits wrong in my hand.

Kiln- I read about that and am practiced having switch the hammer springs out on the four I bought. I like this pistol for its simplicity- I plan on leaving it in the car; I can cope with the lose of a $200 pistol alot easier than a $600-$1000 one.

Are AP7 and PA 63 mags interchangeable?

I like my pa-63. i didn't know someone in Thailand was making grips for them. I'll have to check that out. have you done the drop free mag mod yet?

Not sure but I wouldn't bet on it. I imagine that most of the other parts are though.

The mags will fit either pistol. But the AP7 mags (at least all I have seen) are in 32Acp and to small for the 9mm Mak round.

I have several of the AP7 mags that I was sold as PA 63 mags.

I carry a russian makarov mosf of the time of its compactness and ease to conceal. Many years ago i carry the smaller Polish P64 but after several dry fires the safety lever broke. It was also the decocker. Luckily the dealer i bought from was nice enough to send me a replacement . This happened several months after the purchase. I sold the gun afterwards. If not , i would have been left with a unfunctioning gun .
In surplus pistols with small parts that can break, the thing to contend are parts replacement. Something to bear in mind...

You don't want to dry fire the PA-63, either. I'm on my 5th trigger spring and my third firing pin spring. I don't know where to buy the trigger spring anymore, since milsurp.com ran out of AP7 return springs. I bought my last firing pin spring from Wolff, but I had to buy a recoil spring to get it. They don't sell just the firing pin spring, alone.

FYI, make sure you get the 13-pound firing pin spring from Wolff. The 11-pound spring causes light strikes and won't work, whereas the 13-pound spring works 100% of the time.

In fact my nice CZ 82 the trigger spring broke years ago. THe gun has been disassembled and kept on storage. I ve yet to get the part just too busy right now . I called CZ usa one time and they got the part but i havent ordered , silly me.... Anyway the makarov has been very robust and i hope i could get parts for it when something breaks. Till then i shy away from surplus small guns except for the Makarov especially for CHL carry.

I'll probably pounce on one if I ever see one at a good price at a gun show or store. That's how I wound up with my Radom P64, had it at a Gander Mountain for $199. Could have ordered one for 175, but would have to pay 20 dollars FFL fees, so I bought it on the spot. I'd also like a CZ82. I love these commie bloc pistols, cheap, high quality, reliable, accurate, effective. :D Don't hurt that ammo's cheap, too.

Those Thai grips are awesome. I have the Marschals on my P64. I don't carry the P64 much, not a lot of advantage over my Kel Tec 9. I just like these things because they're affordable and shoot so well.
