Price of a used Kahr PM9

I paid $480 out the door for a used, like new in the box pm9 a few months ago.

(680-100)/2=$290

That probably about what the shop paid for it, maybe a little more ($375 or so) if they absolutely couldn't get a new one in. If I were in that situation, I'd probably go up there with $500 cash and make an offer.

You can get a factory blem. at Bud's for $597 new, they have a used P-9 for $499.

If you want it and are willing to pay the final price negotiated that is all that matters.

In my experience, a hypothetical cash price it's what's on the gun. A cash price is where you start counting out cash on the counter.

That's been my experience too CZguy. Cabelas is pretty notorious for giving the "its on the gun" answer as the standard, but I've gone in there and laid out cash on the counter and well, they took $80 less than what was on the "marked down" tag. There is a lot of variables in how low they'll go. If its only been in the case for a day they will probably wait awhile to see if someone comes and takes it for asking price. If its been there awhile they will most likely work with you a bit as long as they still make money on it.

Have you considered buying a "new" Kahr CM9, priced below $500 almost everywhere? A clone of the PM9, with all the reliability, accuracy, and smooth trigger that Kahr offers. I love mine.

With the "CM9" on the market for $350-$400 new, I would not personally pay that much for the PM9. From what I've noticed over the last couple of years, the price of the PM has been steadily coming down because of the CM. They were routinely sold for $600-$650 new in stores, but now it's more like $500-$550. In my opinion, nothing about the PM makes it worth that much more than the CM. Offer less on the PM or find a CM and save some big $$$.

Just a word of caution, my PM-9 would feed nothing reliably, even after a professional polish of the feed ramp. I sold it off and shortly after that it was pulled from our approved list of off duty weapons along with the .380

No experience with the CM line, although they are billed as a budget model of the PM series. The Kahr handbook strongly recommends a 200 round break in period, which I did several times over, but the same issues persisted.

I love my CM9

I absolutely love my CM9 as well.

I found out that it does not like the extended 7rd mag I bought. Searching on Kahr forums found that it's common... Kahr magazines absolutely suck. Search for the post about sanding the follower to make it more reliable.

Mine will nosedive nearly every round in the 7rd magazine UNDER the feed ramp if using Federal FMJ ammo... Magtech and Aguilla are no problem.

I pulled 5rds of each type and checked the OAL...



Federal is the longest. Aguilla was the most inconsistent but shortest overall.

The Federal also has the least "round" FMJ round of the 3 which I think contributes too:



What happens is the ammo will slip forwards early in the magazine and get caught under the feed ramp and it doesn't tilt up because the magazines have poor frontal support from the looks of it.

For now I'm just using the 6rd magazine until I can fix and verify the 7rd magazine works.


edit: I'll add that the CM9 is INCREDIBLY soft shooting... I freaking love it and now shoot it better than my 4.25" 1911. I like the long and smooth DAO trigger.

flatlander, did you happen to check the position of the mag spring on the 7rd. mag? If reversed, as mine was, it will contribute to the cartridge nosediving.

Spring is good... longer end at the front. Can it be reversed top to bottom? There is no visual difference as far as I can tell.

My CM9 has been flawless since purchased new - if you didn't do the prep work as outlined on the Kahr forum, you will get troubling issues. If you follow the prep advice, it works perfect every time

Dad didn't follow Kahr's CW9 manual, including no slingshot. Failures to date: 0, rounds fired: ~ 700. Bought my K9 used. Cleaned it up, failures to date: 0, rounds fired (by me): 600.

Every manufacturer sends off a few lemons on occasion. So long as the model line itself is not otherwise a failure, it's no more trouble than sending it back. Not fun, not what anyone would wish for but not an impossible situation.

I got a p9 for 380otd. only half inch longer and taller

flatlander , for what its worth I bought a cw9 first and it came with a extra 8 round mag. Then bought the cm9 and found it runs fine with both mags. No werd bottom figer/plate. Never had a mag issue but also use only 124gr gd for HP bullets and tend to use umc buck, georgia arms canned heat or magtech for practic ammo. Magtech has run good in anything for me. I also never racked the slide just for the sake of racking it. I cleaned lubed and shoot them. 2200 rounds between them sp far with zero problems. Biggest problems with them is ammo and the shooter.
