Kahr PM9...

I've been carrying the PM9 for about a month now. I bought it, intending to put it into an almost daily rotation of carry guns. However, I find myself grabbing the PM9 almost every morning. It seems to be a perfect fit for all types of wear. In my pocket, on my hip, and my favorite--in my Coronado concealment vest. The pistol is not heavy enough to make one side of the vest "sag". A spare magazine and a knife or Leatherman "Squirt" on the opposite side balances out my vest perfectly. I've carried my PM9 more than I've carried ANY other new CCW weapon. Mine is the all black, "Black Diamond" finish. As far as I can tell, none of the black has worn off.
I'm beginning to think that I should have gotten in on the group buy of the new PM40's on the Ron Graham holster website. It came the same way with a stainless slide and Black Diamond finish. Does anyone own a PM40? How's the recoil on that one? It's a lot smaller than my Glock 27 and I've wondered how it shoots. I've looked at Kahrs for years. It's only after I bought one that I realized how nice they are. They do seem to be worth the "price of admission".

All I can think is OUCH!

It seems as though that would be a handfull to shoot. I'll stick to the PM9 and 124gr Gold Dot +Ps.

Glocktalk.com seems to have a good amount of information from PM40 owners. I just did a search under "Kahr pm40" and did a bit of reading.

I don't know how the recoil would compare in the PM9, but to me shooting a standard 165gr .40 out of a Glock 27 felt like shooting Corbon `115gr +P JHP out of a Glock 26. I suspect the difference would be similar.

Well, if folks are shooting .357 out of 13oz ti/scandium revolvers how much worse could the little .40 be? Mind you, I am not advocating such torture, just saying there are those that do ......tom

One review of the ti/scan. .357 revolvers compared shooting full-house loads to being "whacked in the hand with an axe handle".
(Actually found that review on the S&W site when the scandium guns came out!)

I like to shoot my guns too much to put up with that.
My PM9 goes to the range every time I do.

I'm working on getting used to a 3" 1911 carried IWB, so I've put the PM9 aside for a while.
When I feel the need for a "real" gun, and can't manage IWB, I grab the PM9.
Over 1000 rounds and no complaints.

Man, it really loves those Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P rounds!
It's the most accurate ammo I've shot so far.
I've shot up my mag full of carry ammo before, thinking I was shooting the cheap Winchester stuff.
Didn't even realize I had shot the hot stuff until I was packing up to leave the range. :banghead:
That's how shootable the PM9 is.

To me, the recoil from my .40 caliber Glock 27 is quite a bit lighter than the Scandium .357 revolver I tried to shoot accurately without crying from the pain. (No foolin')

Mini14: I couldn't tell any difference in the +P, 124gr Gold Dots either. I even posted a question about it. I wondered if +P Gold Dot was "really" +P. But I guess it is.

I own and shoot a glock 27 also with no problems, hell my wife shoots it too, but the little pm 40 is like 6oz lighter, which could be significant. The pm40 is one I want to shoot before plunking the hard earned cash down, but the pm9 is something I am definately considering .......tom

PM40

I brought home a PM40 on Friday. Took it apart and cleaned and lubed it. Took it to the range on Saturday and fired off 150 rounds. I loved it!

They have done something with the new double spring guide rod with the sleeve on it. Something is making a difference. I traded in a P40 for it and the PM has no more, maybe less, recoil than the P40. Sweet shooting little gun. The only reason I quit after 150 rounds is that I was out of ammo. Next time, I'll take more.

I got a chance to take my new PM9 to the range for the first time today.

All I can say is: Wow! I really love this pistol.

I too had always wanted a Kahr but was turned away by the price. But now that I have one, I understand.

The PM9 functioned flawlessly. The recoil was not bad at all for such a small package, and the accuracy at 7 yards was exceptional.

I think the trigger has everything to do with the accuracy. I'm a big fan of the Kel-Tec P-11, but I could never shoot it very accurately because of that looooong, heaaaaavvvy trigger pull. But the Kahr eliminates that problem, and the difference was amazing.

The PM9 is definitely a keeper. In fact, I might eventually have to add one of its big brothers, the P9 or TP9.

When I got my PM9 home, I cleaned and lubed it with Militec. The difference was pretty incredible. The slide makes very little noise. Easy to rack too.

I'm sure the +P Gold Dots are really +P.

In the past, when I shot a mag full through my PM9 or Ruger P95, I noticed the impression of the grip checkering had been imprinted in the palm of my hand.
I don't get that with standard pressure ammo.

The +P is a little stiffer than the cheap stuff, but not painful at all.
