These pistols are once again available on the surplus market and are selling for around $300. I've had great luck with my sample and have found the pistol to feel quite familiar given it's relationship to the 1911. The pistols are all steel and most I've seen lately are WWII surplus firearms that have been refinished.

I used to have the Star BM which is somewhat like an officer sized version of the same gun. Great little weapon! Unfortunately I sold it for a duty weapon, this was before I was getting in to concealed carry :(

I hate it when I sell a firearm and wind up missing it... I've done that many times in my life.

I have some Star pistols.
They are not as nice as Colts, Smiths, and Berettas.
But they are nicer than Tokarevs and CZ52s.

Few of their handguns are pretty good. I wanted to buy Llama 'Omni' .45 but my fingers proved too short.

I always wanted a Megastar 10mm. As heavy as it is, full power ammo should be no problem. I have a Firestar .45. I've thought about selling it, but it's such a good pistol.

I had a Star Model B many years ago; I think paid about $150 for it back then. Perfectly sized for the 9mm. cartridge and extremely reliable, it was a great gun to teach new shooters with.

I hadn't thought of this model in a long time. I owned one for a few years. Can't remember why I sold it. Mine was a great shooter.

For not a great deal more you can have RIA 1911 9mm. I thought about a Star B as I had a BM and it was dead nuts reliable (sold it to a friend who really wanted it for what I paid for it), but then I think if I just wait three more months I can get a Rock Island. Of course that was before I realized I wanted RIA officer sized .45 1911.

There is a new in box (old stock) nickel plated Star Super B at a local shop that I've been eyeing for a while. One of these days I'll have the cash to burn and fail to talk myself out of it lol. :uhoh:

I have a B Super and a BM. Both are stone reliable, accurate, and easy to shoot. My B Super has the 1947 target still in the box with it. The difference between the A or B Models, and the "Supers" is that the Super Model has a take-down latch.

Thanks, but, in a 9mm, I'll stick to guns designed for them, not adapted from another caliber.

The BM, with it's 3.77" barrel, falls almost between the Commander and the Officer's Model.

Many Super B Models went to the South African Defense Force, and fought the Angolan sponsored rebels for years. They have a reputation for working no matter what.
