I loaded up a box of 300 RUM & went to the range to see how they shot & I noticed a bit of puddling around the firing pin struck the primer so I was using Ramshot MAGNUM 94.0 grains so I am backing the load off to 91.0 grains & see how it goes :D Oh the bullet was the Hornady 178 grain SST & Federal 215 LRM & Remington brass NEW

I'd say your results sound about right.

I've not used the RamShot "Magnum" in my .300RUM. I have used RL25, Retumbo, RL22, IMR7828 and several others to include WC-860 and some H50BMG.

The closest of these is probably the RL25. According to my data, 96.0gr of the RL25 is listed max. However, for my rifle it's 93.5 and 92.5 gives best accuacy and duplicates factory ammo at ~3,200fps.

What rifle do you have?

Mine is a Savage M110 w/26" bbl. This rifle also has a "Weatherby" 0.378" "free-bore" chamber... It gets really high velocities.. even if the accuracy isn't the greatest (1.5" nominal... sometime better... ie: 84.0gr of IMR7828 or 92.5gr of RL25). I've enjoyed owning and shooting it. Enough I can't bring myself to dispose of it (trade or sale). However, every time I've taken a deer with it, it's drawn blood on both ends.... (Weatherby "eye"... from the scope objective "kissing" my eyebrow....)
However, I have developed a slightly reduced load of a 180gr bullet at "only" 3,000fps... 82.0gr of IMR7828... shoots so good!!! sometimes with the last few 180gr Remington Corlokts I bought to work up loads in this gun, I get 3-touching at 100yds. And recoil is "tolerable"....
btw, the Corlokts have tolerated this high velocity amazingly well... never a shed core or recovered bullet, or fragments of one.... even at 40yd impact range.

My 300 RUM

I have a brand new out of the box Remington Model 700 SPS matte black & a 26" barrel . The Ramshot MAGNUM is not working at all . I don't like to see any signs of excessive pressure in none of my handloads . I backed the load off from 94.0 to 91.0 & still there is a little bit of puddling not as much as the 94.0 grain load but i am not going to use the MAGNUM anymore . I am going to try the RETUMBO & see how it shoots
