I'm so very saddened to read this.

Dave was one of the best mentors on THR, and a fine mod. I learned MUCH from him about shotguns, and greatly enjoyed his teachings and posts. Always low key, but firm.

He will be missed.

+1.

For some people it´s just the internet.

For those who value this medium of thought- and experience-exchange
it's much more. It's valuable. Through its' people.

My thoughts go out to Daves family and friends of which he seems to have had many. I never had the chance to get to know him but seems he was the type of person we would be better off with more of. Always a sad day when we lose one of the good ones.

Well said, my friend.

Very sorry to hear that we have lost Dave. He was a great man who taught me to shoot a shotgun. Very grateful for having the opportunity to shoot a few rounds of trap with him.

Dave, we will miss you!

Your condolences are appreciated

Thank you for the many thoughts and prayers offered for Dave, and comfort to my children and to me at this sad time. Dave loved to share his knowledge and to be a part of this community. It was thoughtful of you to send flowers, we appreciate your reaching out to us.

Wow, this is awful to hear. Dave always had great insightful posts, and one of his posts he wrote about hunting is something I think of from time to time, it's just perfectly written. The world is worse off without him, I'm sorry for your loss Ms. McCracken.

I have been "off the forum" for several weeks, just now catching up.

To Mr. McCrackens family, my deepest condolences. And a moment of silence.

The best I can think of for Dave is that now, he earned his place where will never run out of ammo, 'clays', and students willing to learn.

I haven't been around recently due to health issues of my own, and am terribly saddened by this news. I am humbly proud that this great man made positive comments several times to posts I made and I avidly read his posts seeking to absorb some of his wisdom. RIP, Dave - gone too soon!

Well this is a shock. I haven't been on the forum for several months. My own father succumbed to cancer the day after thanksgiving. Just thought I would log in and check around and I get this news. What a talented and thoughtful gentleman. I don't toss that word around lightly as there aren't a lot of true gentlemen around. Dave was one. Wish I had had the pleasure to meet him face to face, but I feel as though I knew him well.

Rest in Peace, my friend. Godspeed.

Like some others, I have been away a while. I am sorry that I was not here while he was still alive to at least add one more prayer but pancreatic cancer is vicious, deadly and almost unbelievably fast.

Dave is already missed by many and, over time, will be missed by more who valued his insights and knowledge.

"Any man's death diminishes me because I am involved in Mankind," wrote the poet John Donne about five hundred years ago.

Dave's death diminishes us all.

My prayers for Dave and condolences to his loved ones.

Bill
