Does anybody know or have information about a M1 garand, with a Century arms Inc. receiver. There is one for sale for $550 obo. Are they any good or bad? It looks good, has a nice stock, and a parkerized finish. Looking for info and opinions.

They look nice, but are built by the usual Century drunken monkeys. Expect things to be out-of-spec, crooked sights, etc. These were apparently built from de-milled parts kits that came in from the Danish about 12-15 years ago.

Pay $25 less (for field grade) and get the real deal U.S.G.I. from the Civilian Marksmanship Program. http://www.thecmp.org/Sales/m1garand.htm

Unless you are looking for specific parts assembled onto one of those abominations, avoid at all costs.

I have a friend that has one. It works (now that he tinkered with it), but overall quality is nothing like the pawn shop real Springfield M1 I picked up for about the same price. I suspect it came from the CMP originally, I know it spent time in Greece because there was a little card in the stock, written in Greek, with a soldier's name and dope for the sights.

I would not spend that on a Century "M1", get a real one from the CMP for similar money.
