New Rifle: Savage 110 HCP 338 Lapua

Well here she is! Came in yesterday...installed a 6-9in Harris Bipod on it, Using the stock rail from EGW for now...but put my NightForce NXS 8-32 on it with some Trijicon rings. Now...just waiting for the rest of my reloading stuff to come in!

Please give a range report when you get a chance. I've been eyeing one for a while now.
 
thanks! yeah i'll give a report shortly. Its kind of been crazy weather here in NE ohio...so not really motivated to go out in 10-20 degree temps. But once I go, i'll surely let you know!
 
How much was the scope? 8-32, that must be hell on mirage in the summer! But 32 would be nice way out there!

I actually bought it second had from a friend for $1500...but honestly i had it topped on my old 300 Rem Ultra Mag, and i never really took it past 20-22 power. Anything higher, like you said, starts to mirage, so i try not to zoom to much if i can help it!

I know with my 6.5-20X50 it gets so bad you can't see through it. Those are nice scopes!

Yeah I see most guys shooting the long distances with stuff no more than 22 power. Mines an 8-32 simply because I got a good deal on it :) If I were to have bought a brand new one, I would have gone with a 5.5-22x56.

Great rifle, great scope and great round....been shooting the 338 L for several years.....have the same night force scope on a couple of my 50 BMG rifles..great optics.....been shooting a 110 BA for a couple of years....I really like the HCP configuration.....good shooting.
 
I have the same rifle, bought it new this past summer. I'd like to hear your range report. I've had a problem with Hornaday ammo. Savage said to try black hills before I send it back. I have a lot of problems opening the bolt after I shoot. I just got some Black Hills, but haven't had the opportunity to get back out with it. the part that sucks is the Black Hills is twice as much as the Hornaday, so even if it works, I lose. damn.
 
I'll let ya know...I reload so the whole ammo thing kinda is what it is :) but I'm going to try a bunch of loads and see what the best is! And I'm using actual lapua brass, so that should help.

I have read some other posts where guy's said they had problems with bolt operation, but I have shot Black Hills and Lapua with no problems. Primarily I shoot my reloads which I build in Lapua brass, and have had no problems.
