He is pushing for new gunowners who can't find ARs to rather get a shotgun. He is a big boost to shotgun manufacturers. In part he is boosting sales, that is funny. The more shotguns are flying off the shelves and that goes with shotgun shells as well. More ammo shortages in the process.

They just destroyed him on Fox News :what: for saying that a double barreled shotgun is all you need. They pretty much made the points for owning an AR-15 that we all have been making here...complete with politicians have no business telling us what we "need".

Impressive for Fox News.

i have to admit the lightweight and compact AR is the best self defense weapon for the young and women alike . A powerful shotgun can be a hit or miss but it is no slouch . A 20 gauge or 410 can be devastating . Im glad VP Biden still owns a gun rather than none at all.
He'd be a good poster boy for the shotgun industry if not for all these AWB .

Truth be told the kid who went into Sandy Hook Elementary could have had the same body count with a double shotgun and a couple of boxes of buckshot. Or a bottle of gasoline and a match. Not too hard to contain a classroom of defensless 5 year olds. It is about knowing what you are doing, not the tool.

I can remember years ago when the gun grabbers were targeting handguns and telling people they would be better off with an M-1 carbine. As soon as someone commits one of these acts with a shotgun they will be next. Biden hasn't figured out that 2 pulls of a trigger on a shotgun sends about the same number of projectiles down range as 1 of the mags they want to ban.

If someone wants to be a mass murder there are lots of tools. An AR is a better tool to have prevented it.

We need a youtube video of someone standing on their deck in a rich neighborhood, screaming "you kids get off my lawn!!!" and carelessly blasting two rounds of 00buck into the air from their double-barrel shotgun... Then cut to a murder scene in inner city Chicago.

Or would that be too much symbolism?

Firing those 'warning' shots will convert you from the victim to the threat......perp can now pop you....legaly! Uncle Joe need to research his laws as to defense!

If you can't get your hands on an AR-15 or AK variant rifle, and absolutely have to have something then a double barrel shotgun isn't a bad gun but given today's technology and availabilities it is outdated in my opinion. In a one-on-one encounter, with a shooter who knows their gun, yeah it's a devastating self-defense tool but against multiple threats it's better than a .25 ACP pocket pistol or a pointy stick.

I can't believe Biden said to go out on the balcony and discharge two rounds into the air. Never, never, NEVER fire warning shots. If you feel your life is in danger, shoot until the threat ends. If you do not feel your life is in danger, then you are not justified in discharging a weapon.

You actually believe he has 2 shotguns?

Oh, that's quite believeable. Upland game shooting, skeet, and trap are well-respected in patrician/elite circles.

And that's the biggest reason that those guns are usually the ones held out as "legitimate" by anti-gun folks. Guys in tweed jackets and $10,000 Purdys don't knock over liquor stores or go on shooting sprees. At least that's the thinking.

Note that he specified double barrel, not pump, not semi-auto. I have a double barrel (Fox-Savage) and it's a nice looking gun, but for HD I'll be using a 12 ga Remington 870 pump filled with 00B backed up with my Glock. Buckshot (00B to 4B) should be an effective load in my situation.

There are too many unknowns to say whether two shots will be enough or whether more will be required. I like having a round in the barrel as I top off the magazine.

In any case, I won't be walking outside to discharge two rounds in the air -- that is a totally stupid and irresponsible thing for a US vice President to recommend to people who just might take him seriously. Really bad from both a tactical and a legal standpoint.

I use my sxs shotgun for upland game birds, I rarely get a 3rd shot on flushing birds anyway. I use an 8 shot pumpgun for social work, but I generally have a handgun at the ready.

BTW, most people don't live where it's legal to discharge into the air or discharge at all.

Yeah, I'll just fire warning shots outside next time I feel threatened. I'm sure the local PD won't mind since Joe told me to. It also makes perfect sense to shoot two warning shots from your double barreled gun, I'm sure whoever you're trying to scare away will be happy to wait for you to reload before they attack.

Since shotguns are better than Assault Rifles, I'm sure he is going to replace all the M4's in the military with the shotguns. If it works for us, it can work for someone in the military doing a raid.

Guys we all know Joe is an idiot. And I would hope all gun owners know not to fire warning shots. But, it would be quite funny to have an on scene interview with someone who fired 2 warning shots at an intruder and blew up a transformer than knocked out power for a while. And when asked they say they were doing what the VP told them to.

And JMHO but a shotgun for home defense is VERY hard to beat.
1 trigger pull= 9 .33 pellets.
Never seen someone walk away from that. But a single pull from and AR? Unless its a head or heart shot, they can and do walk.

I'm not knocking AR's in any way. I just want to make that clear. And if you want an AR for HD go for it. They will certainly get the job done in the right hands.

Did I mention I think Joe is an idiot? :)

I think you are reading into this a bit too much. Joe would like to see AR's banned and confiscated if possible. The shotgun (double barrel) I suspect comes from his youth when the double barrel shotgun was the meanest gun out there. And.. it just so happens to only have two shots.

That is why I need 30rd mags so I can fire 28 warning shots they are not as loud as a shot gun and still have 2 to deal with the perp.

With the price of a good double barrel being 5-10 times what your average AR costs, will there be a stimulus plan to help out those unable to protect themselves?

Of course not!

Then the proles will be able to afford guns!
