Will regular use of silicone wipes and/or storage in a silicone "sock" have any negative effects of bluing?

It will not hurt the bluing or the grips but I have have never liked silcone rags because you will get that stuff on your hands and then everything you touch. Like the grips. Any levers or safeties. Your phone and your keys. And if you have ever tried to remove silicone from anything you will find that it's almost impossible. Any good gun oil will protect as good or better than silcone. All I use on all of my guns is regular old CLP applied with a small brush. Wipe lightly with a rag and you're done. Oil will wash off of your hands. Silicone is forever.

Must be the water in your area. I use silicone cloths and I have never had any of the problems you mention. Actually it's a lot less messy than oil.

I've used silicone spray for years on my guns and have certainly never seen anything harmful about it. As a matter of fact, I consider it to be the BEST thing to use. I have never seen a bit of rust, or any other damage in all those years. My guns don't even show fingerprints when I pick them up.

I've been using them regularly for well over 30 years and never hurt any blued gun I own. All things considered I believe these to be superior at what they are claimed to do.

I've used both the cloth's and socks for more years then I care to remember and never had a problem with either blue or stainless firearms.:D
