For $55 a box!

I went to the local pawn shop and saw 4, 50 round boxes of PMC ball ammo sitting on the shelf. After throwing my arms over my head and fist-pumping victoriously...I saw the price tag and threwup a little. I asked one of the employees if people actually pay that. He laughed and said
"That shelf had over 10 boxes on it earlier this week."

He also said that for the price they're getting them at, they're only making a couple bucks profit on each box.

Crazy.

I don't believe their wholesale price is $50 a box.

A local hardware store in Cincinnati is selling Tula steel case 9mm for $24.99 a box. It's despicable.

This thread had me fistpumping, until I saw the price and then I threw up and shook my fist angrily. Thanks for trolling me. :)

Who knows

I was at a gun and knife show last weekend, a private seller was trying to get $200 for a 250 round bulk pack of 9mm Remington UMC FMJ. He probably bought it at Dunhams just before Christmas on sale for $65. I was passing by another vendor who had a sign that said "ask for pricing", and another where there weren't any prices at all. One guy stopped and asked about the price of ---- Ammo and the vendor said "MAKE ME AN OFFER"

There is s 600 table gun and knife show going on about an hour from here this weekend and due to knowing many of the same dealers and private sellers will be there, I am passing on that show.

If the wife didn't have the flu, I would just call the local indoor range and see what the price of 9mm is with range time. They make sure they keep enough ammo around so their range customers keep coming back. Weekend range time for two is twenty bucks an hour, last time I called they were getting fifty cents a round for 9mm with range time so for a hundred bucks we could have a ton of fun seeing as I have plenty of 22LR and an M&P22 to finish out the hour

Saw some in a local coin shop (of all places) for $20.00 a box for winchester. I thought that was to much and passed. It was all gone the next day.

I was at my LGS last weekend and saw those same Remington 9mm for $17.99 a box.. i may go down there today to see if any is left.

Been getting 100 round federal packs at walmart for $25/ea for the last two months. Just gotta be in right place at the right time. I'm glad walmart is not raising prices. By them keeping their prices low, it will eventually force everyone else back down to reasonable prices.

In the current environment I'm not unhappy about paying $14.45 / 50 delivered for brass cased 9MM range ammo (1,000 rounds per order).

I've just been getting mine at our local range to shoot it up right there. They are high at $16 a box for 124g fmjs, but I'm okay with that. I think my limit is another buck or so. I have a stash, but don't want to shoot it lol.

My lgs always has 9. I picked up 100 rounds wwb for 33 bucks. It hurts......

If people stopped buying ammo for a week, the price would drop significantly. As long as people keep paying these ripoff prices it will never go back down.

Walmart in Tupelo MS had 9mm Federal in 50 round boxes today for 13 something a box. I got to see the last box being purchased by a fellow who was telling his wife, "I missed my chance." Apparently they had a lot of 9mm that morning and by noon--nada. He didn't quite miss. He got a box out of it.

I would expect to pay no more than $17/50 for ball currently. Patience and diligence will spare anyone from having to pay triple that.
For those who absolutely must have the ammo this afternoon, well... expect to sell a kidney.

that's crazy. also teaches you the lesson to own multiple caliber... I know 9mm is EXTREMELY hard to get.... but I can get 100rds of .45ACP for $44 at my LGS

I'm not shooting .45ACP for $44/100rds but if I absolutely had to shoot I would rather shoot .45 for $44 than 9mm for $50.....

My local WM has nothing but dust on the shelves, but the sales associate said they get in some every truck and it just evaporates. I have about 300 rounds of JHP (Xmas time was 12 bucks for the Rem 115gr and 21 for the WWB Personal Def 147gr) and 200 of the WWB and Federal FMJ right now (10 a box). I will hold on to it and skip shooting at the range for a little bit.

I'm more bummed that I have not been able to find a LGS selling the Ruger P95PR15 which were around just 6 months ago.

I get the impression than the ammo manufacturers / distributors are favoring LGS's over Walmart. I assume that Walmart has a price that they are willing to pay, but LGS's are a lot more willing to pay more to get stock on their shelves.

There is a new breed of gun owner out there, waking early to scour the shelves of walmarts and sporting goods store far and wide. Don't think you'll see them at the gun range, maybe at the gun show.
