I have recently purchased some Golden Bear 125 gr 7.62x39 soft points as well as some Tula 125 gr sp's. They both shoot around 1 moa in my Ruger 77 Compact. has anyone used them on game and can you tell me how well they expanded and penetrate? I am a bit concerned since they have a bimetal jacket which is mostly steel.

I have done some non-scientific testing, both bullets seem to be very unpredictable. Some will mushroom perfectly, some fragment, and some bend and stay intact with no expansion. For a decent hunting bullet, I would go with the S&B soft points, or one of the US Mfg's.

154 soft points work, I can tell ya that. I'd go for the heavier bullet. Plus, they seem to be a little more accurate in my SKSs.

I have wondered about the lighter SOFT points. I know I ain't using the hollow points on game. I'm sure the American made stuff works okay, but we're talking commie import ammo here. :D

Check out the andreleger2001 channel on YouTube. He has a lot of videos of jug tests with Bear ammo. For the most part, they don't expand at all.
