They finally got concealed carry a couple years ago. Lots of people hunt, very popular pastime. Walker is pretty conservative and survived a recall vote (by a pretty wide margin), so although there are a couple bills in the state congress I think it's a low risk for major anti-gun legislation while he is still in office. However, Madison and Milwaukee usually vote more democratic than the rest of the state, so there is no telling how the next governor will lean. But overall it is your average midwestern gun "culture."

Open Carry, Shall Issue Concealed Carry, no state AWB, no state magazine capacity limits.

SBRs, Suppressors and machine guns not prohibited to qualified individuals who have complied with all Federal requirements.

State Senate, State Assembly and Governor currently Republican and no talk of 2nd Ammendment infringements except from a few choice Madison and Milwaukee lefties.

At the moment, all is well but eternal vigilance is in order.

It is a beautiful state with very friendly folks overall. I've been through it multiple times and have loved it. Overall, the smaller areas are more pro-gun and outdoor ranges abound in the woods. Of course, when you get nearer to the urban areas you get higher crime and more liberal moonbattery gun laws.

I sent him a thank you letter even though I don't live in the state for standing up to moonbat mayor and his other anti-gun cronies.

I love it, never been anywhere else thought. I would make a point to stay away from the bigger cities like Milwaukee or Madison. I live just outside of Green Bay.

When I visit I fall back in love with the place. Until my asthma and allergies take over my body.

I have lived in WI for 6 years now, about a hour north of Milwaukee. As of about 2 years ago WI became gun friendly. Our current state government is still pretty conservative, but we did over welmingly re-elect Obama for a second term so things can change. Depending on where you end up local municipalities may be more restrictive, though the legislature did a good job of including a lot of protection for gun owners. As was already said Madison and Milwaukee generally have anti 2nd amendment feelings but the state laws allow CC.

You will find a lot of gun ranges, both indoor and outdoor. I travel between Green Bay and Milwaukee for work an there are a lot of gun shops both large chains and LGS.

Politically 'moderate'...Ron Johnson beat Russ Feingold, we elected Scott Walker (twice), but Obama won and Tammy Baldwin beat a former and popular governor in Tommy Thompson.

I've lived here all my life, minus 5 years of active duty in the Army. From further north originally, but a recent transplant to Madison. Even in Madison, which is not gun friendly, there's a few shops I've found within 15 miles or so that are well-stocked with fun stuff.

Me too. Lived there until I was 19, then went to Stevens Point for school. Left the state for good when I was 25. Won't consider living there again unless I'm retiring on an inland lake somewhere.

What do I miss? Irish Fest, my family, and restaurants. Not the actual city one bit.

You can probably check out the Journal online, and I'd be willing to bet there is an website dedicated to finding rentals in Milwaukee if you google it. Just a note. If you choose to live on the east side, there are a lot of beggars and vagrants. They are usually friendly, but not always. If it were me, I'd look at a suburb. Downtown and anything within a three mile radius is just too expenssive.

Da Packers rule in WI. DuPont cheese in Marion makes the best colby cheese on the planet. Lots of local beer makers. Sausage rules. Gun culture is solid. Entrenched in rural areas. Rather different in Madison and Milwaukee. 29 is the dividing line. North of that, it's hard core north woods culture. South of that is farming.

Hunting is a way of life in Wisconsin. One the highest ratios of outdoorsmen to people of any state really.

They went from terrible to great on Right to Carry. Today they're like evey place else and they have good reciprocity...Indiana is good in Wisconsin where it's not in Ohio for example.

Wisconsin is a great state for just about everything. Food's great. Beer's great. Cheese actually is really big and much celebrated there...so then is wine. Hunting and fishing is great. Guns are common as they are in Texas or Indiana etc.

It's a great place to be, lived here my whole life aside from traveling at my last job. Lots of people that love guns, you can own just about anything if you've got the paperwork to back it up, and plenty of Leinenkugel's, brats, and cheese to go around Can't forget the Packers either.

Expect to buy a treadmill.

I left Milwaukee in 1960 and never looked back. On the few occasions that I do visit the remaining relatives I get sick. Sick of seeing what became of a once civilized bluecollar metro area. It is now on the verge of becoming the 2nd Detriot plagued with gang activity and entitlement blood suckers.

It sure cuts down on the lawn mowing expenses.
The winters are a little tough, but the other 2 months of the year are quite tolerable (except for the mosquitoes)

Born and raised in the Dairy State, allways loved my Packers, and the Milwaukee Braves, still loved 'em even when they deserted and went to Atlanta. Like they said before I still buy Wisconsin cheese, and what ya have Pabst Blue Ribbon, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer! I've allways stayed clear of Madison the college town and State Capitol, as well as Milwaukee, but what can I say the town that made beer famous, or is it the beer that made Milwaukee famous. Whatever, the cold winters never bothered me however the humid summers is what made me stay away, along with the mosquitos the size of B-52 bombers. It is a neat State as far as hunting goes, and the shooting sports, as well as the CCW.

Born in Green Bay, lived in Luxemburg till 6th grade, Lake Geneva through high school, and La Crosse till I was 40. I wish I still lived there. Lovely people and lots of beer, sausage and big food. Southeastern region is more "settled" than the west. Lots of public hunting that's actually worth going to. Stay away from Madison. But even there, you'll find some wicked good fishing...

While living there, when the USAF SAGE center was still in operation at Truax AFB, the state firearm used to be the good ol' lever-action 30-30. The deer there are of the Eastern Whitetail variety. "The Sportsman Guide", I think, was located within Wisconsin. "Land's End" clothing was located in Wisconsin, last I heard.
