My first and so far only child was born last night around 7PM, a son. And I realized he didn't have his first firearm yet :what:

So I went out to local Wal-Mart and got him a Red Ryder BB gun. Anyone think it is too soon? :D

Also THR or as my girlfriend calls it "My Crack" is blocked at the hospital. It is serious withdrawal.

It wasn't guns, but my first grandson had 2 Tonka trucks about 4 months before he was born, so, no, it's NEVER too soon! The Red Ryders (2 G sons) came right after the second was born. Mom was hesitant which is why I waited... Congrats! Bring him up right!

Are you crazy? He'll shoot his eye out! :D

My buddy's kids have .22's waiting for them since they were less than 1 year old.

Congrats!

I'll say 2 things, words of advice:

1. When my first was born I bought a 10/22 saying to the clerk it would be for my kid when old enough. He laughed at me, saying I'd use the heck out of it and love it to much to ever give up. He was right. I'm worried about the day it'll leave me. Enjoy the Red Ryder :)

2. If you can get your guns now. Soon there is no money for anything else especially with diapers.

One bad thing about the Red Ryder is its size. Good guns, but I recommend a smaller version to get the kid an earlier start. My grandkids have a tough time with the RRs due to the length.

His first official red ryder carbine action 200 shot range model air rifle! Does it come with a compass in the stock?

When I got my first Buck knife a few months ago the first thing I did was text a photo of it to my fiancée and say it was going to be my sons first knife. She made me revise that comment to include a daughter as well : )

I feel the same way about my Marlin 60.

Right now we are having a discussion about if it'd be Ok for us to pick up a new gun the day between our wedding and our honeymoon, to give it to our kid the day after HIS wedding someday. : ) the problem with that is that I don't want to wait till October to get a new squirrel gun...

Congratulations!!! The BB gun may be a bit early but there is an old addage that goes something like' "It is never to early to plan for the future". Start planning for everything now.

You did good son!

I got 3 grand daughters before a grandson, All got a BB gun and the 7 yr old just started with a 22

Teach them right and watch them grow.

As soon as we found out we were having a girl a pink Cricket came off the rack at our shop. She just tuned five and still has just a little bit more growing to do, but she's almost there.:) Been "teaching" her the do's and don't of firearms before she could talk and I've helped her shoot my Ruger MKII a few times as well as my CZ452 from a rest.

Start 'em young and teach them safety!

Congratulations on the new arrival. :) Best to the new mom too!

Yeah, good choice for that first rifle. Best thing my children ever gave me was the grand children.

Congratulations, I got my boy a 40th anniversary model 10/22 the day he was born. It has yet to see the light of day since '04 waiting in anticipation for that big day.

Congratulations! (we need emotiocon smoking a cigar!) :)

Good going on the purchase of his new gun! He will grow up knowing they are tools, respecting them and their abilities. And best of all he will not be afraid of them and view them as something bad.

My Son got his first .22 Rifle at his 2nd Christmas ... A Chipmunk .22

Not sure about the gun's, but is he a life member of the NRA yet?

Rollis ... funny you mentioned this one, My Father got this and lifetime hunting and fishing license for his new grandson before his first birthday!
