S&W Shield Recall

I checked mine, as per the instructions, and not a problem. I guess they would rather check it than get sued by some money hungry lawyer with a careless client.

Mine checks out too. I have 2.2k thru mine that I have had for 16 months. Love the gun

I checked mine out, and I do not have a problem and it has a July 2013 manufacture date. It must be a small batch.

I'll get to check mine tonight, I seriously doubt mine will have a problem either. I doubt that their is much of a problem at all but I will still head what S&W says and check it.

Again, thanks for the heads up.

Sadly to say, mine has to go back. There is no sign of the catch that is supposed to keep the trigger from accidently discharging.

Honestly I can't see that happening with me but I'm not betting the life of my loved ones on it. I will call S&W Monday morning.

Danze71- Thanks so much for posting this, I would not have found it out except for THR.

Now I have to send away one of my favorite pistols. As crappy as the trigger is I was just learning how to shoot it. Feels like it's full of sand. I'm going to tell them about that while they have it to see what they will do for me.

Thanks again.

My son stopped by the LGS today and they told him about it. Since I spend a lot of time on these sites I didn't believe it. Never heard about it until today. So anyway I checked mine and all is well.

Mine's good to go as well. Here's an embedded video on how to check it so folks don't have to leave the site:

Mine (purchased about 2-3 weeks ago) is on it's way back to the factory for work. After hearing about the recall, I checked it as per instructions to make sure the drop safety tab consistently engaged or deployed or whatever. That was when I learned that on mine it actually never engaged/deployed no matter how many times I cycled it and dry fired.

Of course mine may be a Friday quitting time gun, insofar as it is most definitely a 9mm and some thoughtful worker at S&W was obliging enough to engrave "Shield 40" on the slide :scrutiny:. As long as it runs well I think it just adds character, but I get the sense they were rushing production to get product back on the shelves or something . . .
