Funny how the anti's were screaming that senators who voted against UBCs, assault weapon bans, and magazine limits would soon be tossed out of office.

And yet the only legislators having to fight recall efforts are some of the ones who voted FOR those measures. :neener::neener::neener::evil:

I've never read or heard why Bloomberg is so wealthy.

His company developed the Bloomberg Terminal, in my simplified understanding a dedicated stock-trading terminal; over 300000 currently rent at $1500/month/USER. $450M a month adds up pretty fast.

I wish he would just butt out but that's not gonna happen. I did make a nice contribution to the recall committee to help out my son who unfortunately lives in the Denver area.

While we all support his right to give his money to who ever he wants he certainly does not support your right to eat what you want or walk down a New York city street free from unreasonable search.

Bloomberg is a rich arrogant jerk who thinks he has the right to tell everybody else how to run and live there lives.

This is how he got his money.

I think one of the first things we need to do is stop using the term "pro gun person" and start using the term "PRO 2ND AMENDMENT PERSON"

And there lies the problem. If someone donating the money runs the system then the system has failed when it no longer represents the wishes of the people. That is exactly the problem we face today. Whoever seems to have the most money to throw around seems to control the power today. That't not the way it is supposed to be. I don't care if it is legal for him to do so or not. And wherever there is money there is corruption. We are on a dark road ahead my friends.

Money has always been a part of elections. It is unavoidable regardless of what laws are in place or what public subterfuges exist like PACS. Big money will forever buy influence in elections. All that can be done is to make the donation process transparent and shine a very bright light on all contributors, big and small alike.

I think contributors to an election often feel as though the money given is not an act of generosity or a gift in support of a candidate's positions on the issues the electorate believe or think are representative of its own, but a fee payment for post-election access to the new or re-elected officeholder.

I think that without term limits, officeholders have a great incentive to pay attention to their major contributors whines and needs because they will need their big money sources to cough up cash again for their next election. To get the cash, one has to beg. Upon receipt, one now owes a favor. And if one doesn't pay off, they'll not get re-elected and will be kicked out of the castle.

I think Bloomberg may actually end up being a huge asset. He's arrogant, rude, intensely sexist and pushy. Basically your standard east coast jerk who's jerkishness has been compounded by years in the financial industry leveraging huge mountains of money at the expense of others. The media back there protect him like guard dogs, but there have been many rumors of his misconduct that will no doubt be expanded upon as he injects himself further into national politics.

I'm surprised no one else mentioned Bloomberg's playing NSA with those terminals: http://theweek.com/article/index/24...ndal-is-stalking-part-of-the-companys-culture.

I was thinking of one of my typical long and drawn out responses to this thread, but then I took a deep breath and realized that I just don't want to devote too much time to Bloomberg tonight. Here's the short version:

That man is a tyrant (or at least he will be if he ever wins an election to a higher seat), and ought to mind his own business. Colorado is none of his concern. I'm not telling him how to run NYC, he doesn't need to tell me how to live my life out here.

The man is Mayor of New York City. Think paternalistic plutocratic patriarchal oligarchic intoxicated on money, power and pride of might, and never missing an egotistic grandstand moment.

A lot of folks in the hinterlands resent that. And I think the more Bloomberg becomes the face of gun control, the stronger our side becomes.

By the way, although I'm lucky enough not to live in New York, I keep an eye on events there if they make the national media.... If you think Bloomberg is a problem -wait until you see who the next mayor there is likely to be... (and I'm not talking about "Hey lady, look at me" Weiner either....). Some commentators that I've watched say that the next likely mayor will be to the left of Bloomberg... poor New York....

Hypnogator: "Funny how the anti's were screaming that senators who voted against UBCs, assault weapon bans, and magazine limits would soon be tossed out of office."

No, what's funny is how the antis are screaming it's unfair that politicians who voted for UBCs, assault weapon bans, and magazine limits are targeted for recall!

Threats of retaliation in support of their cause are justified; but if the opposition does the same, it is evil incarnate.

When those ridiculous pro Morse/Giron anti recall commercials (I especially like the one that asks “who is Bernie Herpin to question our personal choices”) my wife just looks at me and says “Shut up” before I can start yelling at the TV

I just read the whole form and can't remember which post it was but please understand the your rights given...nay, protected by the constitution protects you from the government. Bloomberg's 1st amendment rights is hogwash. It means naught to me.

Another post tracked by the government.

People who are upset about the gun laws will vote. Those that were not bothered by the laws probably won't be motivated to get off the couch.
