Shortage again?

It's not again. It just ain't over quite yet. Things are normalizing but there's still plenty of backorders to fill before stuff starts hitting shelves like normal.

If those 158gr LRN bullets are made the same as the 158gr LSWC/HP bullets the are swedged and hot hard cast.

Looking at the Extreme bullet site i see they list their Cowboy bullets under Hard Cast, if so they are harder than the Speer bullets.

I would call or write them and ask them how hard the bullets are.

Not a lot of $$, you get them fast, and they are great to load. He just shipped me another 2000 yesterday.

Things are getting better, and I am a supreme pessimist, but we ain't out of the tunnel yet, and I might see a faint glow, but certainly no light!

Always keep a three-year's supply of the ammo stuff you need.

That will carry you through these sorts of events.

If more people would take initiative to not place themselves at the mercy of the just-in-time supply channel, we would have a lot fewer of these shortages.

If three-years' supply is not enough, things will have happened such that your "recreational" shooting will be zero.

Extreme does have 158 gr Cowboy loads, what's the difference?

Cowboy loads typically mean that they are of a softer alloy and cannot be pushed to magnum velocities. Here is a link to Missouri Bullets for a bullet of similar design. They are also labeled at Cowboy velocities and the BHN is 12. If you're shooting them in a .38 you will have no worries. I wouldn't push them hard in a .357 though.
