Hey there, I have acquired three weapons. One of which is a J. Stevens A&T Co.
I've never seen or heard of these, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of solid info out there. I was told there are lots of knowledgeable enthusiasts here, so here I am.

SN is 18661
SN on barrel, frame and skeleton stock all match.
I can comfortably drop a .22LR into it. Although, the hammer/ trigger doesn't lock, nor release properly. I have intentions of fixin it up for when my 7 month old son grows old enough to use it. Here are a bunch of pictures. Any info, help and/or advise will be greatly appreciated!

Well, it seems like I might be gettin somewhere. Anyone know how to decode the SN of a J. Stevens?

It is here except for the after-market telescope sight. That is the 40 1/2 or Vernier Model, so called because of the backstrap mounted Vernier sight.

Just for info, the OP doesn't mention the barrel length, but in any case the Models 34, 34 1/2, 40 and 40 1/2 were long ago specifically removed from the purview of the NFA and given C&R status; ones made before 1899 are antiques.

That link you posted is of the New Model, would it be safe to say I have a New Model, not a 40-½, as I have read they're different?

The pistol in the link is incorrectly labeled. The New Model Pocket rifle was the No. 40 and had barrel mounted sights with no provision for a backstrap mounted vernier sight.

The Vernier Pocket Rifle No. 40 1/2 had barrel mounted sights, but also was supplied with a backstrap mounted vernier sight.
