I found this gun for sale locally. The owner says it's a 75b but it has adjustable sights and fancy grips. Do you think it was modified or is it factory?

He wants $550 for it.

Any thoughts?

I don't think it is worth $550. About a year ago I bought a CZ 75BD for $400. If it were a pre-B, maybe since they have some collector's value. You can buy a brand new CZ 75B Omega for $529 from Buds, or a plain 75B for $502.

The trigger reminds me of an early CZ75B, It's shaped differently than the newer ones. That being said the older ones had a better trigger pull on them anyway.

The magazine, a 15 round one, in the top picture has a step floor plate like my older one did.

The grips and adjustable sights are aftermarket add ons.

As for the price, that's up to you as to how bad you want it.

I loved my CZ's but due to wrist problems, I can't shoot heavy handguns without my wrist giving me fits after a few rounds.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

The sights appear to be available from The CZ custom shop.

Edited to add: The CZ 85 Combat comes with an adjustable rear sight, but I don't think this is an option for a non-custom CZ75B, though I could be wrong.

I agree, he's asking too much. He claims to not know anything about the modifications. He said he bought it from a buddy recently. I may offer him $450 and see where it goes from there.

Honestly, I'd be tempted to buy a CZ clone before overpaying for a real CZ. Some of the clones are excellent and sell for an amazing price.

The proof mark shows 06, as in 2006.
I don't know if the smooth grips are CZ or aftermarket but grips are grips, get what you like.
The sights are LPA. I don't recall a CZ with LPA sights but they may have used them at one time or another. Or a gunsmith put them on. Either way, decent but rather high adjustable sights.

Looks like a standard 75B with aftermarket grips (attractive) and the standard LPA adjustable sight, with a slightly different front sight -- both of which are available through CZ-USA. The sights could be after-market addons, or from the factory. (CZ uses LPA sights; my 85 Combat came with a slightly different LPA setup. I like the ones on the gun in the photo better than mine.)

Price may be a little high, so you may have some wiggle room. Nothing special about the gun and, I'd say, nothing to worry about. (I'd think $450-$475 would be fair, given its used, and CZ may not choose to honor the warranty.)

You can probably find a NEW one for about the same offered price ($550), equipped in about the same manner -- and have a no-issue warranty. The problem is that CZs tend to be rare, nowadays.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm working in a trade with him. I'll keep you posted about the results.

New 75B's (without adjustable sights or wood grips) are $499 in my area. So I agree that $450 would be a decent used price, as it looks in good shape. The adjustable sights are worth a few bucks too.
