I have been reloading just about 11 months to the day. Initially I could find nothing but slowly, and I mean slowly, I started finding some IMR and some Hodgden, and then more and more, here or there. I capped it off several weeks ago with 8 lbs of 4350.

I got the powder I have by a bunch of searches of four or five sights, at random times, as well as looking at Gunbot and a couple of others, several times a day.

Now I want to find some RL 15 and RL 17. To my knowledge I have NEVER SEEN either for sale since mid December last year. Yeah it took 7 or 8 months to get the Hodgden and IMR, but I have had no opportunity for the Alliant. I think I saw a pound on GunBroker for, stand by $58 last week. It must be scarce!

Is something going on or is it just to popular? Are they still producing powder? Just dunno.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

It depends on where you live. My LGS has never really had a problem getting Alliant powder. They always have Unique, 2400, power pistol and so on. They now have 8lb jubs of the RL15, RL17 and 19.

They have a problem getting Hodgdon's. When I see Universal, Titegroup, and HP38 (win 231). I grab a couple pounds weather I need it or not, because it takes so long for them to get more.

Alliant is doing well but like everyone else is behind on orders.

Yea I guess it depends where you are. I know it wasn't any of the powders you mentioned but our Gander Mtn ,of all places, had a shelf full of Blue Dot last night. (24.99$lb)

I haven't been able to find any RL22 for at least 6 or 7 months now. I'm not using Hogdon and IMR, I've been finding those every where.

Now that you mention it Jcinnb, I haven't seen any of the Alliant powders that I use for a loooonnnggg time. I have adequate stocks of RL 25, but haven't been able to find RL 17 or Blue Dot at all. RL 17 is made in Switzerland, so I don't know if that is a factor or not.

With the exception of blue dot, I have seen no alliant powders in my area for about a year now. In a way, it isn't all bad. I Have had some pretty happy successes working with other powders that I never would have considered until I just didn't have a choice because it was all I could find.

I've seen Blue Dot, Green Dot, 2400, RL17, RL19, RL25, RL50, and Promo in person within the last month, all in decent quantities. Also saw 1lb of Bullseye, too bad my wife was with me. She understands why I want so many different powders, but she still gets upset if I buy some anytime I see it. I've had to sneek in a pound of Auto Comp and a pound of WST recently. Them IMR/Win/Hodgdon cans will fit in my jacket pocket but them durn Alliant cans stick way out.

I was in Cabela's today, they had IMR 4064, being held for me by a friend who works there, I got 2 lbs. of it. Win 231, or HP- 38, non existent , I need whatever amounts of that too! They said they have it on order, no known time frame for delivery!

I just picked up some Unique and I can buy 2400 anytime I want. As stated, it depends on where you live and where you look I guess.

I can find most stuff around here but 2400 is rare.
The only reason I can get any at all is because a local gun shop ordered a whole bunch of it and apparently there aren't very many magnum reloaders in my area. I have 2 pounds of it on my shelf and they still have a bunch for sale.

Havok7416-I buy it up when ever I find it. I use it for .45 colt loads and for reduced cast bullet rifle loads. The stuff is almost as good as Unique.

I am visiting in laws in a different location this weekend, AND there happens to be a gun show in town. Maybe I will get lucky in a different location!

Well what do you know? Picked up two pounds of RL 17 at he lil ol Rowan County Gun show.

Just a very random, last minute trip to in laws and discovered the show just glimpsing at newspaper last night. It really is just luck, I guess.

Seems to me that stores are getting stocked from east to west. Prices in Tennessee are 25.00 to 28.00 a pound while here in Colorado it is 35.00 to 50.00 a pound

Just bought 5lbs. RL15 for $95.00, locally. I guess it depends where you live and if the Alliant gods give it the OK.

I am not positive, I will have to search for the Link. All the RL-## powders are made over seas. Maybe thats why they are slow to deliver?

I made sure I stocked up on -4064 and AA#5. I can load all my rifles (.223 to.30-06) and all my revolvers and pistols (.380 to .45ACP and .44 mag) with these two powders. Not the most accurate powders for everything but they give good accuracy. Unique and Re-15 would also be okay. You've been Obamanated once. We're always just one election away from it happening again.

I've been able to find most of the more popular Alliants either locally or on line. But I haven't been able to find RL15 for close to a year. I emailed Alliant just a few days ago and they replied that they were completely out but that they were expecting "a shipment" toward the end of the year. Since RL15 is manufactured in Sweden, I suppose that's where their shipment is coming from. It better be a big shipment!!!

So what does these powder folks do when theyre out of everything and waiting for a "shipment" I wonder, sit around twiddling their thumbs? I'm starting to wonder if these powder companies even make this stuff, or are they just the middle man? How does all this work exactly?

"Ben" with UPS, might be the only dude that works there.
