What does THR auto experts say about them.Looking to carry the 45 acp version.Currently carrying Sig 230 in .380 with Hornady critical defense ammo.

I really enjoy 1911 style pistols but they aren't what I would carry. I also feel more benefit with a 9mm than 45ACP. The aluminum frame is nice from a weight point of view but makes practice much less enjoyable. For me, it wouldn't be a consideration.

Now, if you are set on an officer length 1911 in 45ACP with an aluminum frame, STI makes a very high quality pistol. I don't have a thing bad to say about their execution of this pistol, just that the specs themselves don't fit what I'm looking to carry. I would feel comfortable that I'm getting a very well made pistol if I were to buy the Elektra.

IMHO the boys at STI down here in Texas make some very nice 1911s, but I own a bunch of them so I'm just a little biased. I've been shooting STI pistols for recreation and in competition for years and have never been disappointed. While I don't have an Electra, I do have several of their smaller 1911/2011 pistols (Rogue, Escort, Guardian, VIP - all less than 4") and all have proven impressively reliable. In fact, reliability along with the quality and accuracy is why 12 of the 13 1911/2011 pistols I own are STI. Buy with confidence. Excellent company respected for building high quality competition single and double stack 1911 pistols, unbeatable customer service, and a lifetime warranty.
