Does anyone know how to fit browning hi power barrels . Any books that I could buy , any information at all would be greatly appreciated . There seems to be little information on the subject. The AGI video was helpful and I would buy it again , but didn't go into much detail on barrel fitting . The more I learn about the Hi Power the more I like it . Hopefully I can avoid any more trial and error .Any help , direction , or information would be greatly appreciated . Thank you in advance.

The only fitting you would need to do would be if you are using an over-size match barrel.

Yes this will be a non standard barrel. I should have been more specific , sorry didn't mean to waste anybody's time . I will be buying a new Browning Hi Power (tax return) and installing a longer than stock Bar Sto barrel (compensator) . I have ordered 2 books from Mr. Camps website and a DVD from Bar Sto on barrel fitting . 2 gentlemen from brownells told me to study as much as I could about 1911's and fitting the barrel lugs . Its time for me to learn how to fit my own barrels as I enjoy making compensators .

Barrel fitting is actually fairly easy.
Be sure to tell Bar-Sto you have a NEW Hi-Power and not an older version.
Older guns have a larger cam lock area than newer guns and as such a new dimensioned barrel will not fit on an older gun unless you open up the lug area.
You may have to clearance the breechface area and barrel hood area and deburr the lug area to get a new made barrel to fit up in a new made Hi-Power but that is easy to do with a diamond hone or ceramic stone.
