I have a .40 Hi-Power that my wife and I both enjoy shooting. She would CCW it, but the barrel is so long, and she's so short, that it is difficult for her.
However, I've found a "detective" kit, basically a 9mm barrel/slide/spring/spring guide that is an inch shorter - it turns a Hi-Power into something like the FM "detective" version. I'd love to get this for my wife (she picked it out), but my question is this:
Will the 9mm slide fit on the .40 frame? The ejector is the only thing I can think of that might cause a problem. The .40 ejector may be a bit closer to the edge than the 9mm ejector, and if the slot in the slide was correspondingly displaced, then the 9mm slide would not fit on the .40 frame.
I would think that the 9mm ejector would work just fine for the .40, so there would be no need to move it when redesigning for the .40, but I don't want to spend $200 on this kit and then have it not even fit.
If someone owns both a 9mm and a .40 Hi-Power, I'd appreciate if you'd try to swap slides and barrels, to see if they are compatible.
Thanks.
