This came in today, and I was able to buy 1000 rounds for $360 of 230 grain Ball. I will put some pics up soon, but first impression is WOW!.

Fit and finish is just as nice as I have seen on any GI model. Let's hope it is a shooter.

I am going to most like keep ball ammo in the gun for feed reasons, and this is to be my fun gun along with my trip pistol to accommodate my CCW pistol. Ball ammo will work just fine for that role.

Like I said, pics to come. I have put a little scratch on it already with the take down pin as I am not accustomed to the methods of the 1911 break down, but it isn't anything serious, and I am sure after a few range sessions and years of toting it around it will look worse.

I dealt with Buds Gun Shop, and everything was flawless. I received my spare Meg-Gar 8 rounder yesterday, and the pistol was at the FFL today. Needless to say I got a smoking deal for the package, but I can't share that information. :)

We are all friends...go ahead....share...

About to walk out the door to put the first 100 rounds through the Zig .45 ACP.
I will be shooting Federal bronze box .230 grain ball. I'll let you know my thoughts.

Let us know how that works out. I have looked at those but after my last experience with the budget end of the 1911 market (ATI Commander), I am very hesitant to go for another one with the possible exception of a RIA.

All 100 rounds in two identical Meg-Gar 8 round mags were flawless. Shot at 15 yards, and it shot to point of aim/point of impact. I am waiting for my nephew to e-mail me the pics of a shoot and see with two mags in it. It looks like a solid hole smaller than my open hand.

I saw that Hickok45 had one in his review, and said his shot a little low. This one is right on the money @ 15 yards. I'll try 25 yards and 50 yards next time.
My father beloved WWII Colt 1911 shoots with a 6 o'clock hold. Very different, but easy to shoot when shooting black circles on white paper. Just aim at the bottom of the black, and you hit dead center. :) I really would love to have that old Colt being that it is American made, and was carried in The Big One. What fond memories I have of a 1911 on my side at 12+ years old. Barely able to rack the slide, but able hit what I was aiming at with that big old slug really made me feel like a man.
I have had a .44 Magnum SBH for four years now, and it was my favorite gun to shoot. Heavy? Yes, but could be shot mild to wild. When the wife and I made our choice for a defensive handgun I wanted the XD45, but she shot the XD9 better so that is what we bought, but the memories from the 1911 and the XD45 never left my mind. Now I have one that I could afford, and it appears to be a gamble that may just pay off. If nothing else, it could be a nice case pistol as it has wonderful walnut grips, and really nice black finish.

Time will tell about the build quality, but it still doesn't rattle, and before I took it out I greased the slide rails with Outers grease.

Two guys there at the range with a Para-Ordinence 1911 and a Sig 1911, and they were amazed at the accuracy and quality of this 1911. For the steal I got it for, I could not be happier.
In plan to only shoot ball ammo out of it. I bought it for a travel pistol. Not home defense nor CCW. So ball ammo out of a .45 1911 is what I think I need for a vehicle/range/farm pistol.

I am completely OK up to this point. After another 100 shots without fail I will be giving two thumbs up.

We were shooting on the same target. He had shoot and see I just had paper. So he let me shoot a few mags on his target. I have the pic, but I can't upload it via my tablet. Let me try a computer here at the house. I am out of town, and do not have my PC.

A picture to come if my 25 year old nephew will remember to send the pic.

Finally found a way to post the pic.

My nephew was shooting a .357 so we covered his shots for this accuracy test on a shoot-n-see. Those are 1" squares. I might have shot three mags into this target. I don't remember, but hey.... I am not complaining. I think I got a decent pistol. After speaking with him, he said I shot two mags into his target. So this is 16 shots @ 15 yards.

My paper targets were the same. Where ever you pointed the barrel, the bullet went there.

So what do you all think? Good buy? I will say that the only thing I can think of is the trigger reset is a little longer than I thought it would be, but it broke clean. It was also very predictable when it was going to break. That looks like a 2.5" group @ 15 yards for 16 shots using Federal 230 grain ball, bronze/black box from xhinaMart.

Sorry for the mediocre photo of the pistol. I'll get a better one. I am not a photographer. :) The only blemish is from me putting in the take down lever after disassemble.

nice

Alright dad-gum-it....I'm ordering the Tisas A2 from Buds now.....noticed that for an extra $15 or $20 Buds offers lifetime warranty...they pay shipping both ways.....I may get 2 before word gets out...

A Turkish G.I. 1911 that feeds, fires, ejects and shoots to point of aim right out of the box? It's a brave new world we live in. Makes me wonder what the Turkish military issue sidearm is. Hope you have good luck with your new 1911. Take THAT Colt Industries!

I have an older version (Regent branded, series 80 safety).
It's been good to me.

I always tell people that if you want a 1911-pattern pistol that just works, you really don't have to spend a whole lot of money...

...but my Colt is decidedly nicer.

Yeah. It reminds me of Dad's old G.I. model Colt. I got the hammer bite to prove it. LOL
Like I said earlier. The Colt shoots 6 o'clock, but is accurate. Very accurate. This one shoot point of aim.

I am getting another as well. I don't see why I shouldn't. Maybe I should delete the thread before we are all paying $xxxx for the 1911. Doh! I should have thought before I posted.

I am not educated in 1911s other than John Browning designed it. It was created to shoot .45 ACP, and has had several models after the original version.

What is a series 80 safety?

The Series 70 versus Series 80 has nothing much to do with reliability or one being"better".

The only real difference between the two is that the Series 80 has a firing pin lock safety feature that keeps the firing pin locked until the trigger is pulled.
This prevents an accidental discharge if the gun were to be dropped or if there was a catastrophic failure of the action that allowed the hammer to drop.

"it's for the lawyers, you know?" It is also responsible for a great many Series 80 pistol to NOT fire when the owner really wanted it to. And I didn't read that on the Internet - I used to work on the stupid things. You would be shocked to see how many Series 80 guns out there are right on the ragged edge of NOT releasing the firing pin all the way when the trigger is pulled. Especially after some clown has done a "trigger job" on one."

I have been thinking about getting one of these puppies. Thanks for the report it could be the final push I've been looking for.

I wouldn't get another one. Better to get a Springfield or better brand.

If you're referring to 1911s in general, many people do already pay $xxxx for them.

No, not the 1911 in general. Just the one the thread title mentions. I known others pay that much, and I am certain some are worth it. I live in a state where Wilson Combat 1911 pistils are made, and they are really nice. Guarantee MOA at 50 yards I believe is what Wilson Combat claims.

Glad that the OP is happy with his new 1911. Sounds like he doesn't need to do anything more than just shoot it a bunch! I still don't see what the big deal is about what he paid Bud's. Don't we all get the same prices at Bud's? (I know they take offers on some of their firearms.)

Took it out for another one-hundred flawless rounds. Here is a typical group at 15 yards. This was 24 rounds of 230 grain ball. But boy does that hammer bite get you. :what:

There we go.. I got the image smaller. I had no idea it was so big.. DOH! :banghead:

No We don't....Buds has new pricing....its called "Make An Offer" or something close to that....people can save really big bucks there....

Tested the pistol at 50 yards this last weekend, and I could keep two mags on a 10" black target circle while shooting offhand. They might have been eight inch. The wind was blowing around twenty miles per hour with gust to thirty-five miles per hour.

They are a great deal if you have a use for one. After much thought, "not really" it's too big and heavy for a carry gun, and not trustworthy enough for a home defense gun, so it would just be another range gun, and I have enough of those. As I age I have gotten more practical, if I want a 1911, it has to be able to serve at least 2 purposes, like HD and range or carry and HD. Otherwise it will just sit in the safe after 3 months and be too expensive to feed yet another pistol for no real purpose.
I don't know if they make a decent platform to build from, perhaps Sam could answer that, I don't believe they do, or that might be the saving grace.
Sometimes it's best to save your cash until you see something that you really love, but can't afford because you bought a gun every time you had 4 or 5 hundred bucks saved up.
