Consider a banned firearm for the sake of CT

Excellent idea. Dealers can participate by giving $5.00 for every "CT banned firearm" sold to "a CT pro2A effort" . But I think it should not just limited to CT. Pro 2A organizations in other states, like NY and MD need our help too.

Dealers can simply mark up the price of the rifle by $5.00 and have that donated to the Pro 2A organization of the buyers choice.

We collected US banned weapons per say overseas. Had a nice little collection of post 86 automatics, sub guns , RPG 7's, grenades and other various weapons in the armory after capturing them, becuase we could. I always think, Gee. i'd be an isntant felon if I had this in the US. But it sure is fun here.

I would be down for buying something banned in CT. Already had a bunch of high capacity mags, but I lost them in a tragic boating accident.

My sense is that you could get about the same mileage by just putting some posters on gun store counters reminding people to donate $5 to the NRA-ILA, SAF, GOA etc. That way none of the overhead of administering and funneling is required of the stores, and even the people who look but opt not to buy a rifle that day may throw another $5 in the pot anyway.

Speaking of which, while writing this I put my money where my mouth is and just sent a fiver to GOA. On their website, under the "Contribute" menu, they have a PayPal link which makes the process really quick. NRA-ILA requires a lengthy form and has no paypal option. They could learn something from GOA in this department - make giving money as easy as damned possible.

If I am reading it correctly I think the idea was to buy these weapons to make them that much harder to ban if/when it gets brought up again on the federal level or other states. And to give creedance to a common use argument if the ban is ever challenged in court.

That being said telling people on a gun forum to buy an ar-15 is kinda like telling people on a car forum to buy a sports car. Most of us don't need much convincing.

its hard to say that an ar clone is NOT common place or every day weapon.

Its like saying "buy a used volvo so that volvo will keep making new cars"

Possibly one of the best Pro 2A ideas I've ever heard, and a damn good promotion for whoever participates!

"We (S&W, Daniel Defense, Ruger, etc.) will donate $X.xx to CT Rifle Assn .(or whatever CT has) for every gun sold that they can't own!"

Err, so wet towel here: How many states' arms bans have been reversed, and what/who has been the best course of action to do so?

The CT ban already took place, yes? Also, what is on their list of "banned"?

Good intentions here, but with a 100% lack of ANY informations or follow through direction, it's more frustrating than constructive!
