For those who have the CC turret press, I thought I'd pass on a little tip.

You know that spent primer tube you can route to the trash can? Well, if you stick a flared 45 ACP empty cartridge case in there, it acts as a plug, and will hold back at least 200 primers in the tube. When done reloading, simply remove the spent 45 casing from the tube (over a trash can) and empty.

Ease the spent casing up in there again, and you are back in business.

A ziptie will hold the tube in place on that grooved spigot on the bottom of the ram, too.

HTH.

my tube came with a cap that keeps them all in there. Didn't yours?

though if I ever lose mine it is good to know there is a fix.

Yes grayling. It had a cap. Years ago now, I lost that thing, and I cut the tube down to about 18 inches.

I have mine going into a liter soda bottle. It takes a long time to fill that up. When I recycle old crummy brass I add the spent primers into it. (they are brass) adds more weight to the scale=$$:)

I route mine into a gallon milk jug. Easy to pick up and move about if needed. Amazing how many it holds. I know there are more than 10K in there and only about 1 1/2" deep.

I still have the cap on mine too. And I don't need to zip tie it to the press, it's all I can do to pull it OFF of the press! I have to be careful not to clobber myself with the handle too.

I've also used the soda bottle, milk jug and trashcan tricks. Great minds think alike! I shudder to think of how many thousands of dead primers have rattled down that tube.....

Yep, mine also came with a nice, long clear tube and a red cap on the end.

Still, nice to know about a "field expedient" fix should things go awry.

Thanks for the tip!

I wait until the tube is half full and then empty the primers into my scrap brass bucket. I still have the cap that came with the tube.

The 45 ACP case sounds like a good tip for those who no longer have the cap.

Off topic, but on a CC turret, how easy is it to change from one die to another and back again, “back and forth“ between two dies? The reason I ask is I like to prime and charge off the press. Thus I would be sizing and expanding then removing the brass and on to the next, sort of like a semi-turret.

^This is what I do. Also, a bolt, piece of dowel or stick could be shoved into the end of the hose. Use whatchya got.

MAGNUM SHOOTER, "Off topic, but on a CC turret, how easy is it to change from one die to another and back again"

Couldn't be easier,. You just simply pull out the indexing rod. ( this is the twisted rod in the center that turns the turret)
It then becomes a single stage press that can be rotated to any die position you want.

Magnum: Don't be afraid to try the 'prime on the press'. The mechanism works great after you get the hang of it and speeds up the process greatly. I have done thousands of 223's and 45ACP's on mine without incident.

Exactly what I do.
