Slickguns had the R1 with the pearlized grips and shiny SS polished to a Nickel looking finish, for a great price. But it's kind of flashy, and the worse part is the big R on the grips, I don't understand ,who thought that looked cool over at Remington. Perhaps wit a set of VZ or all black grips on it. I might be interested. Who like nickel full sized 1911's?
I don't see many made other than the less expensive gun makers.

I won't buy a Remington 1911 because of their logo on it. I prefer subtle. Grips can be changed but the slide stays with the gun. I've read where there are others who feel the same.

That's why I wouldn't buy a Rock Island, but they finally removed that billboard from the side of the slide. If you look at Buds, you can see the new models have very little writing if any on the slide, just the logo on the rear.
I felt the same way about Cars when you buy one and the dealer puts some difficult to remove logo decal or metal plate on "your" car, it's usually were I start the process. By asking them to remove it if I purchase.
I had a friend who wouldn't buy anything ,"even shirts" that had a name on them. He just wanted a blue shirt, no designers name plastered on it.
There are 2 schools of thought on this, some folks want you to know, what they bought, "perhaps name recognition" goes along with dollar value, and those who, don't want to advertise someone's brand on what "they" purchased.
Especially with woman's accessories and clothing, but Guns also, like "Wilson" or "Baer", immediately make those around you aware that you dropped some big bucks on that pistol.
where conservative individuals would prefer folks not to know what they paid for their personal property.
Now I might consider a Rock Island as it just looks so much nicer with a blank slide. But I didn't think the Remington was as Bad, I have to look again, I did mention that big R on the grip which has to go, if I were considering it.
One of our members milled his slide on Ruger which he also Bobbed, and it looked like a completely different gun, so much nicer.

I used to have a couple of Colt Governments that were nickel plated and liked them a lot. The only one I have currently is a limited edition Combat Commander from Colts Custom Shop. I bought it more for its practical application rather than just for its bright nickel finish.

Polished stainless will show scratches & scuff marks before you get it out of the box.

Its just the nature of stainless, as it isn't hard enough to resist scuff marks from handling.
And a high polish just makes everything show up worse.

I maintain my polished and nickel guns finish with Flitz, it's not very difficult. Wax, either Flitz or Renaissance, will help to protect the surface from light scratches and handling marks.
