It took nearly 5 weeks of waiting (3 weeks on order and 10 days for the waiting period), but now it's in hand. My new Ruger NMBH chambered for 357/38. Going to the range tomorrow. :)

Very nice revolver. Bring extra ammo to the range becaause a lot of people will want to try it.

A real beaut!

Hard to beat a .357 single action. Accurate, powerful, rugged, everything I want in a handgun.

A fine piece ; an excellent Ruger.

Question : Are those smallish traditional style grips adequate , or is there a tendency for owners of that gun to retrofit something more substantial?

I own all three Ruger single actions, great guns. The Single Six was fired so much I had to sent it back to Ruger for timing action work. The BlackHawk loves full power loads. The Super BlackHawk is almost threw the 3'rd 5 gallon bucket of wheel weights and many full power loads and still locks up tight. Accurate ,durable and great guns to shoot. Enjoy yours !!!! hdbiker

Took the revolver out today. It fired real nice. The only issue I had was the rear sight pivot pin working its way out. Called Ruger and they are sending me a backup as well as gave me advice to fix the issue by placing an ever so slight bend in the pin.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the 6.5" barrel, but I found it easy to hold steady and aid in quickly getting on target. I'm going to enjoy the revolver a lot!

Great choice in a single action revolver. I love all of my Ruger Blackhawks, especially my Flattop .44 Special.

A lot depends on the hand of the shooter, but for most people they work well. Shooting SA revolvers is a bit different than shooting DA revolvers. A smooth grip, in the traditional shape allows the gun to rotate upwards under recoil, creating almost zero felt recoil, and allowing the weapon to be easily cocked again for the next shot. Yes you do have to regain the sight picture this way, but it can be a very pleasent way to shoot heavy loads.

Center fire: That is one gorgeous revolver and will do anything you want with the caliber. I have a Blackhawk from the first year of manufacture (3 digit serial number) and it is a pleasure to shoot. Mine sees mostly 38 specials just because it is so accurate with them. If you handload, 38 specials and 357 magnums are a dream to play with.

Waveski: I put oversized rubber grips on my NMBH 45 Colt/45 ACP. It was comfortable enough but I have very big hands and the rubber grips gave me more control. My 357 Flattop is a smaller frame and shorter barrel and the original size grips are OK.

Congrats and hopefully you will enjoy it for many years to come.

I started out shooting an old Colt Army 38 Spl in my youth. Pop hauled it all around while he was surveying and used it for many nasty critters.

My own handgun collection started off with a 3 screw BH in 41 mag which was quickly followed up by a RH in 44, and then a GP-100 when they came out for the wife. I added my own GP a short time later after finding out how much fun hers was.

We together have shot thousands of rounds between the two and have had a ball with them. I got my first handgun deer with her's as well, just before I got mine.
