Love this gun more and more. Another 100 through it, half 38 half 357.

Ordered some Altamont grips and put on it. They have a really good feel. No screw loosening. No blowing up. No light strikes. It didn’t steal my identity, run away with another man. Nothing. Love love love. A true favorite.

I hope you know those are some very nice fotos you posted , thanks for sharing these moments with your new gun , the normal words like , amazing , beautiful , gorgeous , somehow just don't seem good enough , so I will just say thanks again , and congratulations , and I'm really , really jealous , after all it's a Python ....BB...

I'm looking forward to hearing about the accuracy, quality, costumer service in the months ahead. Do they turn Smith wise or Colt wise. Will they shoot themselves out of time? If so, who will tune them.

Sorry to be negative.
I think it's a way cool revolver with some really nice features , for instance how they made the grooves longer for the lockup , bolt or hand to ride in , it seems like it would eliminate the turn line . I also like the shape of the crane how it tapers from the ejector rod down to the frame in a straight line , giving it a robust look yet it's elegant looking because they softened the edges , not leaving them square and blocky , and they enhanced this by tapering the top corner of the frame where it meets the barrel at 45 degree angle adding to it's elegance , and sleekness , this revolver is worth it's price tag just to sit around and look at it , and admire it , how it shoots is just icing on the cake.....B B.....

All I can say about the accuracy at this point is that I don't shoot mine any worse than I do any other gun.

The "problems" with the new Python are well documented, if not perhaps overstated. The internet would have you believe that thousands of them have been sent back. Colt says a couple of dozen...maybe. I have no idea. The only "problem" I've had with mine was after about 500 rounds of magnum ammo, the sideplate screws worked loose. A couple of minutes at most with a screwdriver, and they were tight and haven't worked loose since, but I admit I haven't had as much chance to shoot it, because the range has been closed. Other than that, mine has simply become my favorite revolver. And I'm a die hard S&W guy.

Customer service. Those people who have had to send their guns back seem to be getting them back in a reasonable amount of time. I don't know if THEY think it's reasonable, but it seem so to me, especially considering a sudden influx of repair orders they hadn't anticipated, and this virus thing seemingly slowing down most everything.

They turn Colt wise, same as always.

Will they shoot themselves out of time? Well, I suppose we won't know that until time passes. Mine is certainly as tight as the day I got it, but with only 800 rounds through it, I'd certainly expect that.

Who would fix them? I see no reason to think Colt wouldn't...they have so far apparently, but I suppose only time will really prove anything one way or the other.

They had my king cobra for 30 days for light strikes. I haven’t shot it yet but they fixed all the issues. The gun feels like it’s got a trigger job. It was smooth and awesome before.. now it’s a little heavier but Smoother! Colt seems to me they are really trying hard to fix their issues. Love the python, haters are gonna hate on em’ they always have. At least colt didn’t fall on the floor kissin’ boots to put a internal lock on their product ( which if I were SW I’d reverse course on the lock ASAP). I won’t buy one...

I suspect that S&W is stuck because any such alteration such as removing the safety lock might require getting California govt approval again to sell. I do know that a number of manufacturers are not bothering to go to the trouble for newer semi-autos or significantly updated models.

"11 CCR § 4070
§ 4070. Roster of Certified Handguns.
(c) A handgun model may be removed from the Roster for any of the following reasons:
(1) If the annual maintenance fee is not paid as set forth in Penal Code section 32015, subdivision (b).
(2) If it is determined that the handgun models submitted for testing were modified in any way from those that were sold after certification was granted.
(3) If it is determined that the handgun is in fact unsafe based upon further testing."

Here is the current California list of approved handguns--note that a lot of stuff available in other states is not allowed there.

That is a great looking revolver. My dealer is on the lookout for a 4.25" model for me. I had an older blue Python and later a Stainless model but sold both a few years ago, and I believe I put grips from Altamont on it. I have a Korth Mongoose now but I still want another Python. Here's a picture of my old Python.

Well friends, another 100 rounds of 357 down the pipe. Mainly shot double action. This gun is incredible. Turns heads, pleasure to shoot. No screws flying out, no cylinders locking up, no misfires. And its a pretty early serial number. It's a hit!

Congrat's on your new revolver, beautiful and I'd like one. Only problem I see is the price, Thought they were going to sell for around $1500 MSRP but that's not what I'm seeing on Gun Broker bidding starts at 15 and ends somewhere between 1750 and 2000.
Think I'll have to wait until the price comes down. Sure am glad I bought mine in 75 for $350. :D
Oh by the way I have quite a few Smith's, all prelocks but the Python is the most accurate, at least for me. Dan Wesson 715 comes pretty close though.
