What is the most cherished gun in you collection

I cherish ALL of my guns, and my right and freedom to own them! Some of them are a little more favored than others, but I love them all.

Mine is probably my Winchester 1895 in 30/40 Krag. It was my father's deer rifle for all the years that I can remember. I was with him when he shot his last deer with it. It was a little 4 pointer (Eastern count) in 1968 or '69. He let put my tag on so I could claim it for my own. He only hunted one more year so my little brother could go but my brother never really cared to hunt.

My Stevens 15-B single shot .22 will be my favorite forever I guess. It's not because it shoots great (it does) or that it is rock solid durable (it is). It's because my dad gave it to me. Before that my brother used it to hunt squirrels for 15 years and killed a whole bunch of 'em. Before that it was left to my father by our neighbor in his will. That neighbor was like Santa Claus to us kids. He had a great job and no family of his own so he spent all his money on us. Considering how poor we were that was a big deal. He ate dinner with my grandmother and aunt every day of the world. He brought us all sometime from the store when he came to eat. Bubble gun and candy mostly. When any one of us had a birthday he bought presents for all of us. Of course the one with the birthday got the best present. And on Christmas he stacked enough presents under the tree to break down a whole herd of reindeer. It's the only thing I own that came from him. He bought that rifle new in the early 50's. It was his varmint gun. I'll keep it until I die and leave it to one of my kids.

My Beretta 92FS Compact Type M. 9mm single stack magazine, 8 rounds. I've always loved the design of the 92FS (damn sexy slide), but the full size is too big for my hands. The Compact Type M fits me like a glove.

I've got a couple that mean a lot.

This one is probably the least valuable, but the one I'd keep if I had to keep only one.
It is a Winchester Steelbilt 16-gauge. I'm the 3rd Paul in the family to have it.

There are lots of good stories here and I wish I could have been so lucky. I don't have any sentimental attachment to any of my guns but the one I like best is my Ruger P 345. It is the first gun that I purchased and I shoot it about once a month, and put about a hundred rounds through it each outing. Beside the relaxation I get practicing I have the security of a bedside friend, along with my first shotgun, an 870. I didn't start shooting until I was 62 so I suppose these guns will go to my grandson. Hopefully he will have similar memories to many of you when he grows up.

For me it's my Colt MK IV Series 70 GCNM M1911. It was my dad's and was left to me when he passed away in 2011. The second was also left to me by my dad. A Winchester Model 42 410 pump shotgun he got when he was 20. I enjoy the memories they bring back.

My Springfield Loaded Stainless 1911. First handgun I owned. Picked it out with my Dad, put it on layaway. I got paid on a Friday and went up to pay $100 on it and lo and beyond the clerk said, "your balance is $10. Somebody stopped by" as he smiled and winked. Dad had made a visit.

That is tough...
Savage 16ga that is 1st gun I shot...
45lc that is always on my side when I am in woods...
Or is it the 1100 that has killed deer, geese, squirrels, and shot more rounds of trap than any other in my collection...
Could be one of so many.

My Savage model 99 chambered in 300 Savage. Dad bought it for Mom in 1957 and I took possession in 1985. It's my go to deer rifle. I've never missed with it and a deer in the crosshairs.

I don't know the model number offhand, but it's a Remington single shot bolt action .22 that shoots CB Caps, BB caps, Short, Long and Long rifle cartridges. Many in the day required manual cocking after the bolt was closed, this one cocks as the bolt is closed.

My mom bought it for me in 1959. She knew a jeweler who was a shooter and she got me into a training class. That started it all for me.

At present, I would say my Winchester M70 Super Grade chambered in .270 Win. Tomorrow, I might say my Winchester M70 Stealth chambered in .308 Win. The next day, I might say Weatherby Mark V, chambered in .300 Win Mag. Then again, I have my Winchester M70 Stealth chambered in .22-250 Rem that ranks pretty high, depending on what I am shooting. And there is the difference: what am I shooting: 1) steel? 2) Deer? 3) Russian boar? or 4) Varmints? And so, I have four (4) favorites.

Could have been a Model 510 Targetmaster Bolt Action Single Shot or any of others. The Remington 510P version was my first rifle given to me in 1958 used and I still have that rifle. Yes, it is among my most cherished guns.

My 1918 Colt 1911. According to the s/n it is 1 of 5xx to go to France with our exploratory forces.

Dad's Winchester 1200 Trap. Not worth much on the market, but every gun in that safe can go before that one does.

Mine would have to be this one. My friend for many years and a great comfort all the time. Now, if I can figure how to post a pic.

I've got four tiers of guns:

1) heirlooms or sentimental value....my 870 given to me by my late father when I was 16, grandfather's 870, grandfather's Winchester model 7something target .22
2) guns I've bought but really like
3) guns I have but don't love
4) trade fodder

Tier one will never be sold or traded
Tier two will not likely be sold or traded
Tier three will possibly be traded if there is a tier 2 gun I really want
Tier four is currency
