My Ruger Speed Six is my most trusted ccw weapon. This is my go to gun 90%of the time. I have my 44 Special, my Shield 9mm and my snub 38 Special. But when it is all said and done. I go with my Speed Six as my main ccw gun. I stoke it with the "Hammer of Thor". Federal 357B 125 JHP.
I paid $240.00 for this fine weapon back in the day. It is a true performer all the way around.
What do you fellow shooters think of the Speed Six?

I think they are fine revolvers and it's a shame Ruger ever stopped making them.

I've been looking for a 4" police service six for some time now!

I still think they are one of the best 357's Ruger ever made.

Sorry they ever stopped.

It was my duty weapon back in the day and I still have it. They plain flat out work. Well made, accurate, And pretty. I can conceal it at 4 with a paddle and T shirt or IWB . 125 gr rounds are a proven stopper.

I think you have one of the best CCW Guns there is. You have a keeper and better never let it go.

Truly one well designed and built short barreled .357 revolver. Another one I never should have let get away.

The Ruger Sixes are terrific revolvers and regret having let mine go. As good as they are, I found them a bit heavy for ccw.

Yup. Mine wears Pach Compacts and it's comfortable to carry, to shoot, and overall just an absolute joy. A true "do it all" gun.

Opinions on the Ruger Speed Six

Arizonan,

I'm the kind of guy that if a gun is not up to my standards, and my standards are high, I have no room for them.

With that said... I have TWO Speed Six revolvers. Both 2 3/4 inchers.

I made expert in IDPA revolver class with my Speed Six! And my spare ammo, in Safariland speed loaders, was behind my hip, no game stuff was used to make expert.

Notice one of my Speed Six's above, with the DAO hammer and Secret Service Stocks.

I say pack it. It will do to ride the river with.

Yea I have a Glock 26 as CCW, but then I also have a S&W 640, Kahr K9, and a 2 1/2 S&W Combat Magnum 19-5 for CCW.

The 640, in .38, is my run-to-the-store gun. The Karh is when I'm in formal attire with suit and tie.

The S&W 19, with Secret Service stocks, and the Glock 26 are the normal guns. Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWHP .38+ps in the 19, and Winchester +p+ 127s in the Glock.

I do not worry about my 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, etc... shot. I am more concerned in self-defense with my first few shots and were they go.

Your Speed Six is an excellent fight'en gun. Master it.

I like all the Ruger Security Six types, and I surely do wish they were easier to come by these days. Too bad Ruger didn't feel the same way.
