I carry a Smith and Wesson 3 inch 586 everyday. I came late to handguns as an adult and started on semi autos of various shapes but settled in the 1911 platform. I then transitioned to revolvers of various sizes, and decided that it is the platform for me. We are fortunate to live on land I can shoot on and revolver's allow me to practice at home and keep my brass easier than semis. As a result I practice more with them and am more proficient (I'm no dead eye, but feel I could defend myself if needed to). Revolvers to me are just plain more fun to shoot, fit my hands better, are easier and safer (remember for ME) to carry. Oh- and while I do blast a few .357s once in a while, I am generally more accurate and quicker with follow up shots with .38 special. Guess what I carry in my .357 revolver. One last thing -to the O.P.'s question of CCW. When I am away from home I carry my 586 either IWB appendix or IWB at 4 O'clock in an inexpensive Azula leather holster with a metal clip over my belt. I am waiting for a nice leather IWB holster from MTR holsters to come in. If I am at home working outside, I almost always carry in a chest pack from Hill People Gear. I find this works really well to keep the gun handy at my chest, but allows me more freedom of movement (no gun poking me in the gut or hip) as I do physical work.
