I carry a Smith and Wesson 3 inch 586 everyday. I came late to handguns as an adult and started on semi autos of various shapes but settled in the 1911 platform. I then transitioned to revolvers of various sizes, and decided that it is the platform for me. We are fortunate to live on land I can shoot on and revolver's allow me to practice at home and keep my brass easier than semis. As a result I practice more with them and am more proficient (I'm no dead eye, but feel I could defend myself if needed to).
Revolvers to me are just plain more fun to shoot, fit my hands better, are easier and safer (remember for ME) to carry. Oh- and while I do blast a few .357s once in a while, I am generally more accurate and quicker with follow up shots with .38 special. Guess what I carry in my .357 revolver.
One last thing -to the O.P.'s question of CCW. When I am away from home I carry my 586 either IWB appendix or IWB at 4 O'clock in an inexpensive Azula leather holster with a metal clip over my belt. I am waiting for a nice leather IWB holster from MTR holsters to come in. If I am at home working outside, I almost always carry in a chest pack from Hill People Gear. I find this works really well to keep the gun handy at my chest, but allows me more freedom of movement (no gun poking me in the gut or hip) as I do physical work.

The .357 STILL gets the job done. I carry my S&W 66 a lot.

Yes. My EDC is a Ruger LCR .357 with 130 grain GD's over Alliant 2400 for about 1100 fps. Sits in my right front pocket inside a "sticky" holster. It's so unobtrusive I don't even realize I have it with me some times.

My Kimber K6 gets a lot of holster time. 2 rounds of rat-shot, for the much more likely venomous snakes, and 4 rounds of hollow points.
Altamont full size grips, so I hurt what I'm shooting at more than myself.

My first cc gun was this .357 sp101.
It still gets carried once in a while.

I EDC a Ruger LCR 357 loaded with .38 Spcl 77 grain ARX ammo. ARX is also available in .357 86 grain which I intend to try some day.

The ARX ammo is ideal for short barreled firearms because of the increased velocity and the hydraulic effect of the projectile.

I have never understood that either. I have seen folks go from plastic to steel, 1911 to revolver; WAY too many different types and manual of arms

I have carried 357 magnum in the past, rarely my 6" gp100 will come along if im not walking far and i plan on plinking. Thats a shoulder holster gun and thus is not concealable unless your 9'3" 650 lbs. I plan to get an sp101 some day but its not at the top of my list right now.
For the folks who carry 38 sp/+p in their 357s, if you load , why not put a similar loading into the longer brass for lower pressure with the same performance? Unless you dont like to carry handloads for SD, personally i trust a cartridge more if i made it not less.

I can conceal a 629 with a 5 inch barrel pretty easily. You can do a lot with the holster and belt

I use the Mernickle PS6 OWB. I have shown this pic before. I had. However carried 4 inch N frames IWB before as well, I'd recommend a pants size bigger than normal though. Lobos IWB works great for this again make sure you have a GOOD belt.http://lobogunleather.com/iwb-inside-the-waist-band/iwb-belt-loop/ IMG_20190723_211927069.jpg IMG_20190723_211917256.jpg

    I'll check it out, thanks.
Ive carried a 3" revolver owb and it was ok, i think it matters how high the holster rides. I have a kydex owb holster for my 5" super redhawk , it will carry fine but doesnt conceal like i would want

I also have had good experiences with simply ruggeds offerings. It can be done, it is all up to how much effort YOU want to put into it. No I don't carry an N frame everyday I carry it primarily on weekends and vacations so it is carried fairly regularly. I work at an office job for the moment during the week day so I carry a .38 and sometimes a 9mm shield as well

I have primarily been carrying a S&W 686+ or a S&W 65 (both 3" barrels) in a DeSantis OWB holster without any issues. Occasionally I take out one of the 4" S&W 65's, 686, or one of the snubby J-frames. I almost always carry the revolvers in an OWB holster.

    Simply Rugged.

I carry it open on the trail and believe it or not, it conceals fine with a jacket. The end sticks out a bit if you move wrong, but no big deal for me since open carry is legal here.

My EDC is a S&W 60-15, 3”, .357 loaded with Speer .357 JHP. I carry it in a pancake style OWB holster that I made and molded to the gun. The gun wears Pachmayr grips and the recoil is very manageable and muzzle blast is not an issue, for me at least.

When carried under a light pullover shirt in the summer it will go unnoticed. And with the addition of a jacket in winter it is practically invisible. YMMV

I’d like to see the 3 inch 686+ in the holster. That’s what I have.

212D6978-8A65-4637-94B7-994207D4CE86.jpeg Not a 357, not even a magnum but this is what I carry daily.

The Safariland has been retired in favor of the Sunday holster. Both revolvers are 45 ACP S&Ws.

    Sure. A 3” S&W 65. An old Ruger Speed Six or a Ruger SP101.

I don’t feel even remotely unarmed with any of them.

I usually carry a Sig P239 DAK in 357 SIG and, i appendix carry so, I’m good with the double action thing.

A Smith 640 pro, appendix in a suede holster with a belt clip.
Also a 3in GP100 with a bobbed hammer and compact grips, in a Bianchi IWB pistol pocket.
Both loaded with Barnes 125grn XPB's and 14.3grns of VV N110.
