I was hunting/ camping for a few days this week, when my sling swivel developed a rusty squeak. I oiled it with the inside of an acorn... worked great!

Anyone else care to share quick field-expedient fixes we can "squirrel away" for future use?

Many times I have used a dipstick for a few drops of oil.

I like to carry a small bottle of anti-bacterial gel to get the blood off my hands after field dressing. The alcohol based gel doubles as a good firestarter too.

It has been a long time ago but we were sneaking up on a group of hogs one night and every step I took my boots would make a "squeek!" noise. Took them off for the last, must have been 100 yds.

On our wedding trip the wife and I went to Hawaii and she gave me flack for bringing my leatherman on our 4 hour bike ride from the "mountains" to the ocean. On the way up her plastic bikini top hook broke and I cut a small section of wire from a fence (twisted around a post drop part not a vandel) and made a new "S" hook. I can take a shower with one now and she doesn't say a word.

Ferns make better TP than Poison Ivy.

Don't use Poison Ivy cause it's kind of itchy.
Don't use Holly cause it's kind of scratchy.
But whatever you do, don't use Mistletoe, because I'm not going to kiss it!

Car antennas make a good ramrod for clearing stuck shells as well, good fishing rods, and although it's a resource waste the can make a wonderful arrow which penetrates wonderfully.

If you REALLY need dinner use something bright to attract a squirrels attention. Put it in plain sight nearby then whack him with a stick or shoot him if you have ammo available.
