I saw this on the news and was trying to find a website that didn't try and spin it as an attraction towards children. No such luck. Every title started with something like "Theme park lets children shoot guns!"
Oh nos! Somebody think of the children!

This guy seems to have learned from the AZ incident. No person is permitted to enter the range and fire without an RSO.

No outside firearms either, for some reason.

They're going to theme shoots around Walking Dead, Mobster shoots, etc...

The report also stated that they'll have a large selection of firearms from all over Europe.

I predict this guy will do very well. While he's not the first to have this idea, there's not many options geared towards theme shoots all in one place. Given how popular CASS and other groups are, younger crowds entering into the firearms world via Walking Dead, Video Games, their parents, friends, etc... It's easy to see how this business will rake in the dough.

Machine Gun USA.....

I saw the formal TV interview with the "lead range instructor". She looks like a high school cheerleader. :uhoh:
She may have a NRA certificate & and wall full of marksmanship awards/training classes but her public affairs interview didn't inspire any confidence.
Who knows?
This new venue may reap some serious $$$.
I read online a few weeks ago, this firm plans to expand & put 2 more gun ranges in the metro Orlando area.

We'll see. :uhoh:

What did this guy learn from that? The AZ incident is the one in which the RSO was an incompetent not-very-smart-person who set up the situation that led to his own death, was it not?

That wouldn't stop me at all; in fact, an instructor new to the shooting sports---be it by age or years of experience---is oftentimes better than one with "experience," as they can better relate to novice shooters. I believe the vacationing general public would prefer a friendly but serious, cheerful but competent, range officer to an "experienced" RO with an ego and sour attitude any day of the week. Besides, some folks simply don't interview well.

In the spirit of innovation and free enterprise I think it's great---head and shoulders above that godforsaken ripoff they call Disneyworld! To experience a shooting range that is clean, welcoming, educational, and fun, is a revolutionary concept in its own right, and hopefully one that will spread.

I wholeheartedly agree.

too many RSOs come across as unhappy grumps who look at "everyone else" as an idiot and somehow they, and only they, possess the superior knowledge and skillset to safely handle a firearm.

I've seen it in the military and on the civilian side.

Sad thing is if you look at their own promo video at 1:13 how many people can you count with their finger in the trigger posing and pointing what appear to be firearms in dangerous directions. Absolutely no muzzle awareness. I count at least 3 if not 4. Does not inspire confidence in their RSO.

Personally I think these types of business can do well. IIRC they do well in Vegas but at the same time you have to do it right.

Wow! I see what you mean, VAgunner. That "promo" video, if anything, promotes the image of shooting enthusiasts as trigger-happy hooligans. Not good.

Mr DEA agent, school classroom, "Glock .40".

Ok. Just watched the video. Bad trigger discipline. It's a no win proposition if you ask me. Asking for an accident to happen with that much throughput.

Plus, I think the Gatling gun was locked in place. That defeats the purpose.

I'll stick to plinking tin cans in the woods.

You are not the target demographic. Probably nobody on this forum is.

Tourists from places where they can't walk into their LGS and rent a gun/handgun/machine gun...they are the prime target, I'll wager.

Ahhhhhh... That makes sense. Having lived in Central Florida, I've had the displeasure of seeing Orlando a few times.

Hotter than the sun and overflowing with tourists running between Nike outlets and Mickey Mouse.

America’s newest theme park is set to open to thrill-seekers and kids as young as 13, allowing them to fire real guns with live ammunition.

The New York Post hype! Wow. I was killing groundhogs on my Uncles Richards farm in Middletown,New York at age 11 with a .22LR. And my gosh, I was roaming those hundreds of acres unsupervised during that glorious summer. :what:

Of course this was in 1953 when we still had brains. This country has gone way down the drain in the past 60 years. Check your TV and news rags every day to verify that.:cuss:

Agree for the most part but in 1953 as 11 year old you did not know how to use a computer, design websites or operate a 3D printer which many people under the age of 13 these days can.

Different knowledge bases which may or may not be compatible. It is not a matter of having and brain or no brain it is about the type of knowledge in that brain. Different knowledge and different skills yield different results.

A 13 year old in rural NY in the 50's grew up around guns as was your experience the avg kid going to Disney World today does not. It does not make them stupid. It does not make our culture's brain deficient. It just is what it is. Simply because everyone does not have firearms knowledge pre-teen is not the essence of this countries problems. IMHO YMMV

^ Alright, VAgunner, you make some good points! :D But overall, to me, life as a young child was more fun and more adventurous in the late 1940's and 1950's.

My numerous grandchildren are glued to their electronic devices. They have little or no interest in my large gun collection, not that they fear guns. They don't, they are mainly Jeb Bush Republicans. ;) And I do have one granddaughter that is enthralled by firearms.

But the thrill is not the same today. At least not in the view of this Dinosaur! :)

I hear what you are saying Red Wind. Don't get me wrong. I agree todays youth lives through electronics too much these days.

Hey at least you got one!!!!!

Hey at least you got one!!!!!

Yeah, I am lucky with this special girl. Bought her a Tokarev 7.62x25 for her 16th birthday in September. She is very rare today. I asked what she wanted and she said a handgun! :D

I was more than happy to oblige. :)

Wow, I did not see that. My local news station chopped up the promo pretty good and made it a 15 second story.

That would be kissimmee........south orange county and i drive. Not really orlando the city.

I have had my .22 rifle and ammo available to me since I got my Winchester 1906 at age 12, almost 52 years ago. Kept it loaded in my bedroom closet when I lived at home. Every other gun in the house was loaded although a child younger than a teenager would have not been able to access them and even then you had to know where they were kept. Never thought it was unusual or even an earthshaking event because most of my friends also had their own .22 rifles at the time even though we lived in the largest city in Oregon. Things have changed over the years and definitely not for the better. Nowadays my parents would be arrested for child abuse or some other stupid charge for allowing their kids to even be around loaded guns.

A holiday classic the whole family will love!

Anyways, I would love to see the insurance paperwork for this venture. The rates must be astronomical.

Why would it be any different than a bunch of other ranges, like multiple LGS's I have around here, that rent guns?

I mean, the ones here rent guns and sen you to the line by yourself with nobody but other shooters in the room (though they do have cameras and a monitor they look at once in awhile). If this place has RSO's present and even hands on with the the shooters, if anything, their insurance rates would be LOWER.

Kissimmee....

Kissimmee is the county seat of Osceola County, www.Osceola.org . ;)

This is also where Colt had the new plant & a smaller business: Rattlesnake Ammunition also has plans for a new factory/sales office.

Rusty
PS: as I posted too, this new gun attraction will expand to 2 other Florida locations.
