New Gun Theme Park Opens In Florida

Critiquing the group photo "shoot" in their promotional video for safety violations is laughable. It's a promo video.

Everybody is watching them and nobody wants a dead tourist in the news. Day to day operations is probably more controlled than any range that any of you go to.

Also, I think they will make loads of money. This area has massive amounts of wealthy tourists flying in from all over the world, mostly from places that do not allow citizens to handle firearms.

Bologna.

-The safety rules are to be followed at all times. You don't get to excuse yourself from the safety rules because you are on camera, and nobody who thinks otherwise is in a position to be running anything, much less a tourist oriented range for people who don't know anything about what they are doing.

-If they can't even get the most fundamental safety practices in place in a video, with chances at multiple takes to get the right footage, what does that say about their ability to get those safety practices in place at any other time?

I wholeheartedly agree.

too many RSOs come across as unhappy grumps who look at "everyone else" as an idiot and somehow they, and only they, possess the superior knowledge and skillset to safely handle a firearm.

I've seen it in the military and on the civilian side.
you read it here on occasion

Awesome! Cant wait to take the kids.

The Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney was far and away my favorite part of the vacation we just went on. You ride thru as targets pop up (some are stationary) and shoot your laser at targets and it keeps your score. Once I got zeroed it was KatieBarTheDoor! You could spin your car 360 degrees with a lever in the middle of the car. It was great. My FIL was like "wow, I hadnt seen you that excited for anything else on the whole trip"..

its mainly for tourists

This is mainly for the tourists visiting the Orlando area who are from places where people might not have the opportunity to shoot ANY kind of firearm. I'm actually going to be staying at a hotel right near it in a few weeks ( photographing a car show nearby ). I'll be sure to take a look. And even though they're just starting out, the selection they have is limited ( check out their website ). But how can you have a "007 Experience" without a PPK? Maybe I'll point that out to them, if someone hasn't already.........

For those not aware this kind of range is a big deal in Hawaii too, for visiting tourists from countries like Japan where guns are all but extinct as far as regular people are concerned.

Orlando tourist areas....l

This new business will rake in the Jake, ;) .
Private ranges and rental places can make $$$.
Unfortunately they also draw people with suicidal tendencies or those who crave high risk behaviors. :uhoh:

In 2014, Id say about 40% of central Florida/metro Orlando tourists are from Brazil & South America. The rest are from Europe(about 30%) & Asia/other places.
Universal Studios Orlando & the Harry Potter stuff made the area more popular with tourists from the UK-Europe.
Most "US gun tourism" from Asia goes to Guam :D.

She looks like a high school cheerleader

Lots of folks said the same thing about Kim Rhode when at 16 she won the first Gold Medal for the US at the 1996 Olympics; she has won a medal ever since

Don't let looks deceive you

Well, its not a "theme park," but a gun range.

And that original link is from the New York Post, so what do you expect?

I think it is a good marketing idea, but don't know how long such a business can be successful. A range session with a Select Fire weapon starts at $99. A little much for locals, but I supposed this is aimed at tourists with money to burn.

Down the road, they should allow customers to bring their own guns so that locals will also be drawn to their range.

Wow! I see what you mean, VAgunner. That "promo" video, if anything, promotes the image of shooting enthusiasts as trigger-happy hooligans. Not good.

That is not any different from any Movie or Tv character that is holding guns with their finger on the trigger.

Most non-gun folk don't know the safety rules, so that is a minor issue with the trigger-finger.

It is absolutely different to have individuals in a promo video for a gun range violate safety rules than it is a character in a Hollywood movie/television show.

So basically it's a new range where you can rent machine guns like you can do in a number of other places and the promo video could be much better. Doesn't do much for me. I think there is an untapped market for good new ranges that have some imagination. I wish someone would open an old fashioned 22 LR shooting gallery thing. There was a local gun who was going to open a virtual range with laser systems and virtual scenarios that fell through unfortunately. That would have been nice.

Gander Mountain Academy....

Gander Mountain has a academy location in nearby Lake Mary FL(a upscale suburb of Orlando). This range offers live fire and VR/simulated slots. Shooters can pick a 92FS type gun or a Glock 17/22 model for the computer system.
The Lake Mary FL range is clean, modern and well managed. There are a few chain restaurants near by too. ;)
