I liked my service model so well I ordered the subcompact for carry. I haven't got to shoot one so I am wondering as to the recoil of the gun. Is it comparable to a PF9 or shield? Any input would be appreciated. Oh and by the way, http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/ has them and the service size pistol on sale for 366.79 with free shipping.

It would be more comparable to the M&P9c and the Glock 26 but a tad heavier. The PF9 and the Shield are single stack guns with less capacity, are thinner, and weigh less.

Anyway, that's a great price on them. The XD9 service model was my first handgun, and I still have it. I've been thinking about picking the sub compact up for a while, but I think I might get a M&P9c instead.

Sounds like a great deal. I've been carrying an XD-40 since 2007. They are good guns.

The recoil will be better than the PF9 or the Shield, I believe, based upon weight and bore axis.

The XDsc9 is a fine pistol. Mine is a straight shooter.

I had one for awhile and i will give you my take, For shooting a Great gun, for carrying not so much for ME, the XDsc is heavy when fully loaded and i quit carrying it but it was reliable Never an issue with that and it was a good shooter.

I had one and the recoil was alot less the the pf9.

The XD9 SC was an outstanding gun, I sold it because I found
that for me IWB it was a bit thick and heavy.

Awesome! That is what I would like to hear. Its not snappy is it? Is it similar to the glock 19 in recoil?

Not snappy at all. Less snappy than my Gen 3 G26, not as soft as the Gen 4 G19 (which I find to be exceptional).

Edited to add: My comments are in reference to the XD9 subcompact, NOT the XDS 9mm. Sorry, got a bit confused with some of the terminology that was being used.

I had one and found it to be very reliable and shot it accurately. One thing that impressed me was how well I was able to point shoot with it. From across the yard distance I could make a soda can jump all over the berm without using the sights. The recoil in my opinion was surprisingly light. Granted I shot mostly target loads through mine, it felt like shooting a much lighter caliber. I shoot a Gen 3 Glock 19 with some regularity now, and to me the recoil seems heavier in the Glock. That's purely subjective though and I tend to run hotter loads through the 19.

I shot one one time at the range. The guy next to me had one. Minimal recail and an excellent shooting gun. I wouldn't mind having one.

Well I just got back from shooting this gun and let me say WOW. Recoil is similar to a full size pistol and it holds so well! I am hooked. I ordered a pearsons Pinky extension but I don't think I need it. I shot it with and without it and the dang thing just shoots well no matter. I fed it around 200 rounds of various ammo from UMC hollow points, Tulammo steel cased, Brown Bear, Aluminum cased and finally my personal favorite carry load Hornady XTP 124 standard pressure. I only had one malfunction that I purposefully caused by holding the gun with only two fingers (my trigger finger and thumb and then squeezing while pointed in a safe direction) And even then it only did it once out of 8 rounds fired that way.

Seriously why are these things not more popular? It shoots great, conceals great, handles great, dead reliable and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I will probably sell all other pistols to get another one.

Why are they not more popular? Hard telling, however I was going to buy one one time. I ended up with the ruger sr9c. The xd is Litterally a brick. Even looks like a Tetris brick but weigs as much as one. The ruger and m&p are both more egonimic and at the time less expensive. Other guns have the interchangable back straps. (IMO are totally worthless). People like to complain about the grip safety too. I don't know why it's never bothered me on my 45's and I've had 2 of them, still have a xd45c. I honestly don't even think about it. I can tell you my wife doesn't like xd's because they are square. I'm sure others have that same opinion.

All that said I still really like xd's and will get more sometime. They function and rarely have problems.

Glad you like yours. They are great guns.
